When Amazon hired me on an H-1B visa, Amazon was making losses for 10 straight years. It was operating out of a rented building where we worked on door desks in small cabins. I was in the initial team that built AWS.
Today AWS contributes more than 60% to Amazon's profit. The stock price has gone 300x. Amazon's buildings have changed the skyline of downtown Seattle. Jeff Bezos went on to become the world's richest man.
There were about a hundred H1B visa holders like me in the initial team of Amazon. Good luck building companies and wealth without these 'indentured servants'
Wonder how @VP will handle this news...how will his boss? Imagine these dark skinned indentured labor progeny winning Nobel! The heartburn it will cause among the White Nationalist (racist) crowd
Nice vibe. But heard this trend was started to flood OpenAI with a fresh set of images of people - faces and bodies - for it to train on. The trend was seeded on Meta platforms and now is taking over X as well. Tomorrow, we may see an OpenAI model generated "Piyush Goyal promoted investment scam." If you sue them, they will say yourself gave the image to us for training. We are not responsible for what users generate.
Instead of asking for a new commission for GCs, we should be asking for scrapping of all commissions based on identities.
A commission means more bureaucracy, more vested interests.
Moreover, commissions are based on the fraudulent oppressor-oppressed binary, creating more and more fault lines. These lines are then exploited by Mullahs, Marxists, Missionaries, Politicians etc.
State should treat all citizens equally. That is the basic premise of a constitution. Isn't it?
GIVA products are targeted to an India between Bandra and Colaba. It's an elite for whom Raksha Bandhan is now a 'party', where you meetup with your cousins, wear fancy clothes, have good food and put aesthetic pictures on Instagram.
It's totally fine if people want to do that, I have nothing against it.
But there is also a Bharat outside of the GIVA target group. For whom Raksha Bandhan is also about the puja ki thali, the kumkum, the chawal, the aarti, the sankalp, the mithai, and the blessings.
Jitna Raksha Bandha India ka hai, utna hi Bharat ka bhi hai.
And when an advertisement is put out in the public domain for mass consumption of all people, Bharat also has as much a right to comment on it as India.
Why should Kriti Sanon, a jewelry brand or a marketing agency have the last word on it?
You want to monetize people's faith to sell your products, then be ready for people to give it back to you if they feel their aastha has been hurt.
You can't get away by lecturing people and calling them backward or regressive for your poor creative choices.
Hello @kritisanon,
1. Don't play the woman card. You were not criticized for your gender, but for your choice of clothes in an ad. You are bringing gender into this to make it a women's issue and seek wider support from women and male feminists. It's not a gender issue. Even Ranveer Singh was criticized on Twitter for a nude photoshoot. He didn't play the gender card.
2. Personal choice stops where public commercialization begins. What you wear off-camera is entirely your prerogative. You've been in this business for years. Until now, nobody bothered you about your choice of clothes. You know why? Because nobody actually cares what you wear. The outrage here comes from a commercial choice: sexualizing a deeply sacred festival celebrated by millions. Context dictates appropriateness. If a male actor appeared bare-chested while portraying the brother in that exact scene, the public pushback would be identical. The issue is sacredness and context, not gender.
3. Claiming "clothes don't define culture" directly contradicts human history. Attire is a foundational visual language of every global tradition, you cannot wear a Kimono and call it Indian ethnic wear, nor can you strip a festival of its sacred aesthetic without altering its significance. If attire truly has zero bearing on cultural respect, then tomorrow is Eid. Can you wear that exact same outfit you wore in that ad and wish Eid Mubarak? You said clothes don't define the respect you have for culture in your heart. So do it and we'll take our criticism back.
Respecting a tradition means honoring its context, not commodifying it under the guise of fashion.

Criticising the government is covered by right to freedom of expression. Poisoning minds against the nation is not.
There is a world of difference between dissent and treason.

Delhi’s EV policy does not rile up people the same way because it is clear that it is not retroactively damaging. Stopping new registrations, progressive phased transformation with clear timelines and goals. Gives everyone time to plan for it. Vehicles are bought by life savings you cannot treat them as disposables. And you cannot retroactively punish the people who vote for you and talk down to them.
Both of Nitin Gadkari ji's sons Nikhil & Sarang are associated with the Ethanol business. Opposition owns Sugar mills as well. Your vehicle is the second most expensive asset that you will purchase yet there is no accountability or transparency in the Ethanol blending policy.

Proto-Elamite?
The Pashupati seal has an elephant, a water buffalo and a rhinoceros. Ancient Elam was centred in southwestern Iran. Elephants, water buffalos and rhinoceroses are not native to ancient Elam. BTW, they are native to India. Also, the figure is seated in a Yogic posture. Is Yoga also Elamite now? Seriously?
Your profile says you are a professor. I don't mean to sound rude, but your students deserve a refund. And seriously, Western universities need to improve their hiring practices.
Yet again, the alleged "upper castes" who did this are listed as OBCs in MP. Other side (OBCs) claim that the groom indulged in abusive language and that's why the entire trouble, including boycott, happened, though by then the groom had made a Reel claiming caste bias. Both sides have now resolved the differences with police intervention. But Brahmins will continue getting abused 🤷♂️
Today, a video of a woman from Mumbai is going viral in which she is angrily shouting at a BJP leader for blocking the road during a protest, which caused her inconvenience.
And now, everyone - including the left and opposition -is supporting this woman.
But two years ago, when a girl reacted in the same way and got angry at farmers for blocking roads during the farmer protests, the same left-liberals and opposition heavily trolled and mocked her.
In both cases, the situation is the same - so why this double standard?
Everyone is "tolerating" this woman because she seems "ache ghar ki". She is wearing decent clothes, speaking in English. So the police will let her be, the minister will act cordial.
If in her place, it was a rickshaw driver (whose time is also equally important), he would be thrashed by the cops right there and the minister would laugh on his face.
That is the "system" we have created in India.
Ministers and politicians act like kings, and we are supposed to be under their mercy. The middle class will be tolerated but eventually shown their place. The poor have no say and only matter when their vote is needed.
