In this photo, an old Japanese man laughs with a US Navy fighter squadron aboard an American aircraft carrier, the two of them clutching their heads and joking that they are going bald together.
The other guests had no idea who he was.
He was Saburo Sakai, one of the deadliest fighter pilots Japan ever produced.
This is his story..ð§µ1/7
Time to again share our MALS-11 #america250 F-18 that Dave @s3_viking_nfo and I painted last month. Soon to be accepted by VFMA-323 and soon she will fly!!
No fancy computer layouts, no fancy vinyl stencils, no fancy paint booth and no large government paint team to do this-just 2 extremely patriotic Veterans who volunteered to share our gift to the USMC. All the templates were handmade in my living room.
Can't wait til she flies! Please reshare our beautiful Hornet so everyone can enjoy it!
God Bless America, God Bless our military and have a super #indepenceday2026

Independence Day wouldnât be complete without sharing my Betsy. This US Navy MH-60S I painted for HSC-21 10 years ago. She is the epitome of the American spirit! She was my 50th Seahawk I painted for the Navy and my favorite. ðºðžðºðžâ€ïžð€ðâ€ïžð€ððœðâ€ïž#america250
The Harrier has officially left the building. VMA-223 "Bulldogs," conducted the final USMC AV-8B flight today at Cherry Point, closing the book on one of the most unique airframes to ever fly from an LHA. Itâs all F-35B from here!
So long Jump Jet!
