Happy 5th Birthday to @RutStamSound! 🎉
Today the team will be broadcasting from their birthday bus, starting in Oakham Market Place at 9.30am with a performance from Rutland Morris and interviews with the High Sheriff and Lord Lieutenant of Rutland 🎙️
We are so fortunate to have this much-loved voice for our rural communities, not only providing fantastic local news coverage, but also playing an invaluable role in spreading important information about everything from traffic and vaccination services to flooding and train delays!
A huge thank you to Rob and his wonderful team of volunteers for all they do 👏🏻

The enemy of democracy is silence.
There is but one goal when violence is deployed, and that is to silence freedom and debate.
Societies become both feeble and dangerous when we forget how to debate, to argue and to be offended.
My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk’s family.

I will be presenting our petition in Parliament next month calling on the Government to protect Rutland’s Ceremonial County status.
The coming weeks will determine our collective future, so we need all the signatures we can to demonstrate our voice and determination to get what is right for the future of our wonderful county.
Labour just don’t get it.
Producing food relies upon assets which have high value but that doesn’t mean farmers are multimillionaires. Many farming businesses do not break even.
Labour’s #FamilyFarmTax will not only end family farming but also…. 1/2
James' family has been farming for 300 years. He tells us what he loves most about farming & why the family farm tax could have a devastating impact on him & his family.
He and 1800 other farmers will be attending the NFU's mass lobby on 19th November.
#StopTheFamilyFarmTax
The message from farmers I’ve met is clear: Labour’s Family Farm Tax is going to cripple the industry.
If we lose our family farms, we won’t be getting them back.
I’m clear that we oppose these taxes, and we would reverse them.
Last chance to have your say on proposed changes to the Council’s Council Tax Reduction Scheme and take part in the consultation. This consultation will close on 20th November 2024. For more information: https://t.co/wlSqAmnv3G
One of our schools affected by Labour’s imposition of VAT on independent schools is @WildsLodge specialist services.
Wilds Lodge has such a peaceful atmosphere and clear care from staff for the students. I really enjoyed getting to speak to some students and see them in so many classes and at play.
It is deeply unfair that some developers currently only offer small, one-off payments to communities facing the imposition of multi-thousand acre solar developments which will fundamentally alter the landscape around them.
Earlier this week I called on the Government to support rural communities by creating a standardised compensation programme, similar to that already agreed in the wind industry.
I have campaigned on this for a couple of years now as I fought against Mallard Pass Solar Plant, so I am pleased to hear Government is listening as the last Government was also keen to make progress on this.
Today I handed in a letter to No10 signed by over 100 MPs, industry bodies and farming experts opposing Labour’s Family Farm Tax.
The NFU estimates up to half of all working farms, possibly more, could be impacted by Labour’s decision to put generations of farming at risk and threaten our food security.
I hope this letter will encourage the Government to think again.
