Wealth-based detention doesn't help anyone. But fewer human beings locked up means fewer kids ripped from their parents, fewer jobs lost, fewer people rendered homeless, and fewer people subjected to the trauma of LA’s filthy, inhumane jail system. This is worth celebrating.

This should NOT be "controversial." Every single person released under this new policy would have been released under the old policy too—as long as they could afford to pay money bail. So while it's not surprising to see some fear mongering, let's keep the facts straight. 1/2

@believerjune18 @lucybsf @Public_Justice @CivRightsCorps There are a lot of unconstitutional actions that evade judicial review. Bail review is difficult to challenge on appeal because it’s moot by then. That’s why class action is so necessary and integral to reform or eradicate bail.
