I don't use Twitter much but clearly I'm going to jump ship soon since everyone else has and Twitter has been a steaming turd since the Musk takeover. So the question is, where are all the cool kids at now? Is it Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads or other?

@ArghZombies We considered it but you need at least 2 for company and we don't have quite enough space. Also they will destroy all the things we want to keep as well as the things we don't.

@ArghZombies Haha I'd like to see you mow my "lawn" (quotes because it's not really grass, it's weeds). Half an acre on the steepest slope you can imagine, with lumps, bumps and tree roots everywhere. Bonus blackberries. Takes several hours, you have to do it in 3 sessions.

@ArghZombies Yep exactly the same scenario here. Renters are copping it the worst of all - as stretched as my budget is at least I'm paying for my own retirement and not someone else's. I actually thought I'd never be a home owner, so despite everything I'm still feeling pretty privileged.

@ArghZombies My house cost way more than the sub trip because I only bought 2 years ago and Australian house prices are obscene. Our fixed term has just ended and we're now up for monthly repayments of around (converted to GBP) 2,300. It's a very high % of our income. 😰

@ArghZombies Jealous. I've been at my computer for the entire day (it's now 11.30pm and I'm clocking off). It's a long weekend and the next 2 days will be the same. Exam on Tuesday. Next weekend I'll have a pic more like yours. Except less sunny and no one will be wearing shorts.

@vanbadham All the "I work hard to send my kids to private school for a better education" comments. 🙄 If taxpayer $$ were distributed more equitably (i.e. zero for private schools and way more for public) then sending your kids to a public school wouldn't feel like a substandard option.

@ArghZombies Admittedly I've been know to manipulate the situation. Already seated, wanted a beer, relocated cat onto my lap and then requested beer. Frank saw and knew, but the cat was already getting comfy so he had no choice.

@ArghZombies Oh no, that's not OK. The cats' comfort is at stake here if you're forced to move. Obviously the request has to be reasonable. "Get me a drink" = acceptable. "Cook me dinner" (especially if it's your turn to cook) = taking the piss.

@ArghZombies Yeah I'm not sure how we got such a score with that one. Probably the managers wanted to see it too. We were very smug when we saw all the customers queuing up on release day.

@ArghZombies I was working at a cinema and we got a staff viewing at 1am after closing time, 2 days before release. It was very very exciting. I do like SW, but I'm by no means a superfan. But being there with all my movie nerd co-workers made it extra special.

@ArghZombies That sounds like an excellent plan. I've been blessed with terrible weather all weekend, forcing me to stay inside and study, which is ultimately for the best. If I had no exams and a sunny day I'd definitely be doing what you're doing. I miss Doombar, what a delicious beer.

@allthingstoney Don't rush to have all the things you think you want because you might feel differently in the years to come & some things can't be undone. Make sure you have plenty of experiences, even if you fear they might be negative. Live with a variety of people. Don't get a credit card.

Bit rude of a publisher to charge $90 for a textbook and not include the answers to the exercises at the end of each chapter. They're not freely available anywhere on the internet so I've had to email the publisher and politely request them.

@ArghZombies My oral hygiene is far from zero waste though. I tried the cornstarch and silk floss and just couldn't get on with them. Plastic floss is a fair proportion of my landfill waste.

@ArghZombies Good that they are improving but it's still an electrical item that uses power and contains mined resources. I used to think they were more thorough but since switching back the dentist has less staining to clean from my teeth.
