What this “conservative” is saying is that the average American taxpayer must accept poor people from overseas, pay for their healthcare, schooling and all the rest. Yes Haiti is horrible. So is Syria so are all these countries. They are “shit holes,” as crude as that sounds but it’s the truth. But it’s economic and criminal horrors that American taxpayers can’t be expected to finance. Do we even have enough low end jobs here to employ all these people given what’s happening with AI and automation? Maybe the governor should come up with a logical solution — asylum in another country for instance —before claiming the only solution to global poverty is to have open borders
