Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
I am going to make a prediction: by Nov 2, US Dept of Commerce will announce strategic investments in $ORCL and $CRWV, thus answering Jansen’s (indirect) call for funding.
It will be justified as critical to National Security, and will leverage the fantastic $INTC investmen as evidence of wisdom and profitability of such strategic investment.
And it will be just in time to give stock market a turbo boost into the midterms…
Plausible?
Dude if $NVDA is not willing to help $CRWV idk who would…
Jensen: we invested in them... ($NBIS $CRWV) that's different than backing them…expect them to work on their own to get the financing they need…
A lot of questions this week on funding, so here's how a GPU typically gets funded at $IREN.
First, the customer signs a multi-year take-or-pay contract and agrees to a prepayment. On our recent 3-year contracts, prepayments have been 45% to 55% of the associated GPU capex.
Second, financing is committed, secured by the contracted GPUs. On the Microsoft contract we secured an A-rated facility at around 6%, which together with prepayments covers 96% of GPU capex. More recently, for a non-investment grade counterparty at Mackenzie, we secured financing at 9% fixed, which together with prepayments covers more than the full cost of the GPUs.
That's the GPU side. The data centers are a separate, long-term asset base, and we own the ones our GPUs run in. Construction has been funded from cash to date, with no debt against these multi-billion dollar assets. As they come online with contracted customers, they can support financing in their own right.
The processes behind the next facilities are continuing, and new paper will cost what the market charges. With GPU paybacks of around two years on our recent 3-year contracts, a wider spread barely moves the economics.
There's more customer demand than we can build for. As we noted at our recent earnings, 2026 is largely sold out, recent 3-year contracts are at more than double the prior year's pricing, and demand for anything we can bring online in 2027 covers it several times over, with prepayments a focus in every negotiation. Conversations on 2028 capacity are already underway.
Meanwhile announced capacity keeps slipping across the industry, which is the point: signing deals isn't the bottleneck in this market, bringing GPUs online is, and that's our focus.

Dave: “Hello, caller, you are on the air.”
Caller: “I don’t think billionaires create value.”
Dave: “Okay. What do you mean by that?”
Caller: “Nobody can earn a billion dollars ethically.”
Dave: “Alright. What do you do for a living?”
Caller: “Well, before this, I was a bartender.”
Dave: “Nothing wrong with bartending. Honest work.”
Caller: “Right.”
Dave: “And now?”
Caller: “I work in government.”
Dave: “Okay. So let me get this straight. You're saying Elon Musk, who helped build PayPal, Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink, has made innovations like online payments, electric cars, rockets, and satellite internet possible, didn't earn his way to being a billionaire?"
Caller: “None of that justifies being a billionaire.”
Dave: “Well, sure sounds like value got created somewhere along the line.”
Caller: “I disagree.”
Dave: “What exactly did you build?”
Caller: “I advocate for economic justice.”
Dave: “No ma’am, I mean actual products.”
Caller: “…”
Dave: “You’re telling me the guy catching rockets mid-air created less value than a person who used to serve mojitos and now votes on spending his tax dollars?”
Caller: “That’s unfair.”
Dave: “What’s unfair is pretending markets are imaginary while cashing a government paycheck funded by the businesses you claim don’t create value.”
Caller: “I’m actually a congresswoman.”
Dave: “Oh Lord. Of course!"
AMERICAN HEROES! 🇺🇸🚀
President Trump welcomes the incredible Artemis II astronauts to the Oval Office after their historic trip around the Moon, an epic moment for our nation!
Only one chance in this lifetime…
Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
“You either need to transition your child or you don’t get to keep your child.”
Attorney Erin Friday says California Child Protective Services can threaten parents who refuse to use their child’s preferred pronouns.
She told me she feared calling the police when her 13 year old daughter ran away because she worried CPS would take her child.
“My daughter, who was 13 years old, just starting high school, was secretly socially transitioned at school.”
“The school started to call my daughter by a male name, use male pronouns.”
“When I called the school and told them to stop, that next week Child Protective Services was at my door.”
“The next day, the police.”
“That was an immediate alert to me that the school wants to parent my child.”
“If I didn’t follow and call my daughter a boy, Child Protective Services may come and take my child away.”
“Parents in Southern California had lost custody of their children because they wouldn’t transition their daughter.”
“I already had a black mark, and a few months later my daughter ran away.”
“The normal thing for a parent to do is to ask law enforcement to help find your child… but I couldn’t make that phone call.”
“Because Child Protective Services can swoop in anytime and take my child.”
“It’s coercion at its highest level.”
“You don’t get to parent your child.”
“This is America. This is insane.”

🇺🇸🇵🇷 Bad Bunny ended his historic Super Bowl halftime show, the first performed primarily in Spanish, by saying "God bless America."
Then he named every country in the Americas. Mexico. Guatemala. Colombia. Argentina. Brazil. Canada. Puerto Rico. All of them. Dancers carried their flags behind him.
He held up a football: "Together, We Are America."
Because America isn't just the United States. It's a continent. Two continents. 35 countries. One billion people.
If you don't like Latino culture being celebrated at the Super Bowl, maybe stop colonizing Latino countries and making them part of your empire.
Puerto Rico is America. This IS America. 135 million people watched. The most-viewed halftime show in history.
