I’m a proud Shillongite! If you ask me where shillong is? I might ask you where you’re from too. For instance , if you’re from Chennai, I’d ask ‘Where is Chennai?’ Not that I’m poor at my geographical knowledge but that’s the best reply I can ever give! (Update yourself)

Shillong is getting a facelift one step at a time. Thank you leaders for being the People’s Leaders.

these hawkers have for years been neglected by the government of the past, they had for decades earned their bread and butter under the scorching heat and inclement weather.

Our efforts to create a cleaner, safer and more organized Shillong are moving forward while protecting the dignity and livelihoods of our street vendors.

Street vendors from the Polo and Jail Road areas have now begun operating from newly developed designated vending zones at the Parking Lot opposite SBI and near Matri Mandir, Polo, under the Meghalaya Street Vendors Scheme. The relocation has been carried out through extensive consultations with vendors and stakeholders, ensuring that the transition is smooth, voluntary and respectful.

To support vendors during this transition, our Government has introduced the Chief Minister’s Urban Livelihood Grant, providing financial assistance to eligible vendors as they shift to their new vending spaces. This initiative is about creating better opportunities for vendors while improving pedestrian movement, reducing congestion and making our city more accessible for everyone.

Together, we are building a Shillong that is more organized, inclusive and people-friendly.

it is important to criticize the government, it is rather superfluous to deliver constructive criticism. however, if such criticism gets too personal, how do we address them instead? i am confident these kind of expressions doesn’t fall under “Freedom of Expression”.
