@LChange49238@Randolphs101@onenationparty0 Exactly, why not focus on what government should be doing to provide a safety net and social housing for the homeless instead? ... I wonder if these posters support a strong social welfare system or not? ๐ค
@AussieJoker69@PaulineHansonOz@RoyPentland Yep, let's increase coal generation and adopt nuclear power. Screw the potential harm to the community from pollution or a potential nuclear meltdown
@JulianAndrew63@EricBlair1965 Yeah, everything is too binary and reductive now. I lean left but have views across the spectrum. Worse is being judged and pigeon-holed just for your politics
@JulianAndrew63 I see your point. But I trust experienced people like Albo and Penny Wong who act moderately, possibly because they might influence another nation's actions more effectively by maintaining relationships than by treating them as a pariah. Not all diplomacy happens publicly.
I'm not a One Nation voter, always Labor, but dismissing them without trying to understand why so many have rejected Labor and the LNP worries me. They feel let down. That's not a good thing for the nation.
@JulianAndrew63@EricBlair1965 Perhaps.. But the journalists I know are honourable, including my brother. Let's not tar them all with the same brush. Doing so denigrates journalists to the benefit of citizen journalists who have no commitment to professional standards or integrity, let alone basic training โน๏ธ
@JulianAndrew63@EricBlair1965 I'm not a litigator, but regardless all lawyers including commercial and corporate lawyers have to act in their client's best interests.. Although their primary duty is to the court if it comes to that. We're there to protect our client. Journalists exist to expose the truth
@JulianAndrew63 I hear you.. But honestly I think they're doing their best in a brutal political arena. And international diplomacy sometimes requires a light touch rather than outright condemnation. They recognised Palestine which was brave. Give credit where it's due?
@JulianAndrew63@EricBlair1965 Yes, very good point.. Bad journalists exist, and indeed they don't deserve to call themselves one if they fail to adhere to their professional standards. As a lawyer myself, I feel let down by other lawyers who put our profession into disrepute by their poor conduct.
@JulianAndrew63@EricBlair1965 By their guests ideally. But we cannot pretend journalists don't each have their own political alignment. But surely that should not disqualify them from being able to report for the ABC? Do you disagree?
@BobThom23923239@KobieThatcher Only in part, as global economics are a big factor. But local tax and housing policy made by government does change things.. What's the alternative though?
@BobThom23923239@KobieThatcher Your call, no one is going to force you personally. For me, it's frustrating seeing so little progress on anything because the rage and dissent caused by so many opposing factions drown it all out ๐ฌ
@grea_k@craigkellyAFEE But for what purpose exactly? What's the motivation for him? He's not rich like Angus Taylor ($85m) or Turnbull ($100m plus). What's the point if he isn't even profiting personally? Could it be he just wants to make society better and fairer?
@BobThom23923239@KobieThatcher 100 per cent. The only ones getting rich from expensive houses are the banks. Imagine what people could spend that extra mortgage money on.
@EricBlair1965@JulianAndrew63 I'm a leftie but I think right leaning views should also be represented on the ABC too. Otherwise it would be a propaganda machine.
