My 12 year old Marcy just got back from summer camp today. Here’s what happened:
Two months ago Marcy had a long lasting attitude. I confronted her about it and she started crying and said, ‘I hate my life.’
Oh you do?
Keep in mind, Marcy lives in a 5000 square foot home.
Marcy is enrolled in a prestigious black belt academy that costs me an arm and a leg.
Marcy goes on beachfront vacations every year.
Marcy door dashes, has slumber parties, and receives an allowance.
Marcy has a very privileged and cushy life.
So.
I sent her to a summer camp for kids that have quite the opposite life.
For kids whose parents are in prison, dead, or on drugs.
My nephew is a counselor there because my brother committed suicide. Thats how he got involved, by being a camper himself.
At this camp they throw a personal birthday party every summer for EVERY kid, because during the school year many of them don’t get birthdays at all.
They are forgotten, neglected, and abandoned.
Marcy had a blast and has asked to be a counselor next year.
My work here is done. 🫡
