🚨 2025 Season Preview 🚨

After years as a trusted assistant, Raymond Davis takes over the head coaching role at St. Thomas, and he's stepping into a strong situation in year one. The Eagles return a loaded roster headlined by Duke commit Obinna Umeh, one of the most disruptive edge defenders in the state. Umeh’s explosive first step is already causing sleepless nights for opposing offensive linemen.
Joining Umeh in the trenches are Khairan McQueen and Rylan Kimpson, forming a formidable defensive front. Behind them, the linebacker corps is stacked with Liam McCarthy, Jacob Quinlan, and Max Moore, three physical and high-IQ defenders who bring toughness and leadership to the heart of the defense. While the secondary may have been the biggest question mark entering the offseason, the transfer of Kohen Alexander from Lutheran South gives that unit a much-needed boost.
On offense, quarterback Pierce Jacobson returns after a strong sophomore campaign in which he often outshined more heavily recruited counterparts. Though the Eagles will miss the elite speed of Derrek Stevenson, they return a solid group of pass-catchers in Nate Tidwell, Luke Branting, and a handful of versatile tight ends.
The backfield will feature a three-man rotation, with Javaughn Waldron, Myles Stewart, and Wells Granger all expected to contribute. They will run behind a seasoned offensive line led by Alexander Pompilus, Fred Oats, and Conner Edmondson, one of the most cohesive units in the district.
Rounding out the roster is kicker Michael Taylor II, who might just be the best special teams player to come through Texas private school football in recent memory.
St. Thomas enters 2025 as the clear favorite in TAPPS Division I, District 2. The real question, one that has become a familiar storyline, is whether they can carry that success into the postseason when they meet the heavyweights from District 1. Will this be the year the Eagles finally break through and make a deep playoff run?
Coach Davis and his squad are certainly built to try.
