I know Villa have been in this situation already and I fear they will have to sell Rogers this summer to fund their incomings. Had to sell Ramsey last summer for that sweet pure profit you get for an Academy player. Newcastle had to sell Anderson and got shafted in the deal because they were desperate. It’s very very tough
@LeeDForster You have to have a buyer to sell!!! He’s turned average players into good ones and helped turn very good ones into excellent ones. It’s the excellent ones people want.
If you read the details of Newcastle’s UEFA settlement it looks like they are going to have to sell to buy moving forward. Every summer probably for the foreseeable. That explains what has happened this year and what the strategy will be moving forward. Handcuffed #nufc
I don’t think they will be in a situation where they have to sell anyone but ultimately you have to trade to comply. It’s why they have shifted to the younger player profile this summer. You sell high and reinvest the money in two or three “prospects”
There is a strategy being put into place but they really need to come out and explain it.
Newcastle had one bad summer of recruitment and the damage is severe. The big six’s financial advantage is entrenched I’m afraid because the revenue gap is so large
There are far better people than me qualified to go over this @SwissRamble@KieranMaguire and others. But that’s my immediate takeaway from reading it this evening. They don’t need to sell anymore players this summer but trading is going to be vital #nufc

@ToonArmySun No he doesn’t but Gordon did and the sale of Tonali will be funding this summer’s recruitment. At some point the club will explain it all properly
Against Croatia England won the game after being pegged back by attacking. They kept pace at the top of the pitch. Tuchel was brilliant in that moment but he failed miserably against Argentina. Is it a sackable offence? England reached the semi finals, so no it’s probably not. But this was a self inflicted defeat and he was largely to blame.
Thomas Tuchel was appointed so England won the big games. The tactics and the substitutions after taking the lead failed miserably. Trying to hold on to a lead, inviting constant pressure for half an hour. If this had been Gareth Southgate…
There was no attacking threat after Gordon scored. Awful.
Thanks for the memories.
"They were more afraid to drop out of the tournament than having the excitement and hunger to win it" 👀

@Jamie9056496134 The manager you are talking about is the most successful in Newcastle history for 70 years. The other is one who has matched Gareth Southgate. Sleep well
Argentina hit the post twice and Pickford made a brilliant save before Argentina equalised and the manager went 5-5-0. He was supposed to be bold and brave. He did exactly what Southgate would do. Stopped playing after taking the lead. They put on loads of attacking players. We didn’t send one on until we were losing. Very very poor 🏴

If that was Tuchel’s plan before the tournament, to protect the box for extended periods of games, it makes leaving Harry Maguire out completely unfathomable. It just looks like a rearguard worked in Mexico for 25 mins and then he became addicted to it.
Out of his depth. Pulled out the yellow card as soon as he was surrounded by Argentina players because Messi had been fouled. He’d let way worse go before it
Feels like if the officiating is like this then Argentina win. Spent most of the half wondering what would actually achieve a yellow card and the answer was fouling Messi

It is the nature of football management that you are judged on the result. England stopped playing when they took the lead. Tried to defend a lead for half an hour. Manager put on defenders and they conceded. If England lose (and they might still win) Tuchel will have big questions to answer. This is why he was given the job
