Had to sell Ramsey last summer for that sweet pure profit you get for an Academy player. Newcastle had to sell Anderson and got shafted in the deal because they were desperate. It’s very very tough

I don’t think they will be in a situation where they have to sell anyone but ultimately you have to trade to comply. It’s why they have shifted to the younger player profile this summer. You sell high and reinvest the money in two or three “prospects”

There is a strategy being put into place but they really need to come out and explain it.

Newcastle had one bad summer of recruitment and the damage is severe. The big six’s financial advantage is entrenched I’m afraid because the revenue gap is so large

Against Croatia England won the game after being pegged back by attacking. They kept pace at the top of the pitch. Tuchel was brilliant in that moment but he failed miserably against Argentina. Is it a sackable offence? England reached the semi finals, so no it’s probably not. But this was a self inflicted defeat and he was largely to blame.

Argentina hit the post twice and Pickford made a brilliant save before Argentina equalised and the manager went 5-5-0. He was supposed to be bold and brave. He did exactly what Southgate would do. If that was Tuchel’s plan before the tournament, to protect the box for extended periods of games, it makes leaving Harry Maguire out completely unfathomable. It just looks like a rearguard worked in Mexico for 25 mins and then he became addicted to it.

It is the nature of football management that you are judged on the result. England stopped playing when they took the lead. Tried to defend a lead for half an hour. Manager put on defenders and they conceded. If England lose (and they might still win) Tuchel will have big questions to answer. This is why he was given the job
