Now then, on important matters
I love @RATW_official, genuinely one of the best shows on tv. Consistently brilliant, great characters and stories BUT why do they insist on eliminating a fifth placed team. Part of its charm is that it has no gimmicks, my one gripe with perfect tv
Last year, the future of British Steel was on the line. Scunthorpe’s steel furnaces were hours away from shutting down.
I couldn’t let thousands of people lose their jobs. So we saved British Steel.
Time and again, people want to write off Britain’s workers. The Tories did it again and again.
My Labour government will never leave workers behind. We’re investing in British steelmaking across our country – so we can make more of our own steel here at home.
I joined @AliFortescue with @emilysheffield on @SkyNewsPolitics to discuss amongst other things, @RachelReevesMP Mais lecture. The Govt want a closer economic relationship with the EU, but also a political row, they believe it’s not just in the interests of UK, but popular too.
Hollie is the GS because she is one of the best organisers and operators in the business. One of those responsible for delivering GE24 result. Simple message: Don’t attack staff, but also a reminder that organisation only gets you so far, it’s on all in @UKLabour to deliver.
Excl: Labour’s general secretary ‘at risk’ if party suffers election drubbing (w/ @conky_k & @breeallegretti)
Multiple senior Labour sources say Hollie Ridley has been warned by allies that she will be sacked following the May elections.
The party denied this was the case but multiple people told The Times Ridley had been “protected” by Morgan McSweeney and after he resigned her “failings had been left exposed”.
Sources point to the Gorton and Denton by-election and a note sent by Ridley to No 10 saying it was a two-horse race between Labour and Reform. Then there was the welfare rebellion and threats to withdraw party support, which is said to have upset MPs. She has also been accused of bringing in allies on high salaries to shore up her position.
One source said said Ridley was feeling “very insecure” and that “Keir will be looking for a fall guy post-May, it’s easy to blame the general secretary”.
But others said the briefing against her was “classic sexist twaddle” and a No 10 spox said she had the PM's support.
No 10 said: “The PM thinks Hollie is doing a brilliant job as general secretary and is proud to have her in the role. She’s a fantastic campaigner and we couldn’t have anyone better leading the Labour HQ team.”

I said on @BBCNewsnight that the issue isn’t just this week’s setback on sanctions. It’s the wider signal being sent
Govt Ministers have identified Russian assistance of Iran and her proxies in targeting UK troops
If Russia believes pressure is easing, that only emboldens Putin
On @BBCNewsnight with @MattChorley, @jessicaelgot and @AnnabelDenham1
This was supposed to be the year the UK turned the corner. Instead, the US–Israel–Iran conflict has forced the govt to shift from raising living standards to insulating the public from a global economic shock

“That’s frankly ludicrous”
