If one believes there is a risk their government will confiscate their assets and that risk outweighs the theft potential,
OR
If one is outside the tax and regulatory system and wants to stay that way (applies far more to 3rd world countries today, but who knows),
OR
IF one wants to use Bitcoin as cash for peer to peer payments (sometimes at least)
THEN
Self custody makes sense.
MANY will ultimately fall into one of those categories, but the MASSES will not, at least until the experience and risk characteristics improve.
Bitcoin spaces are very split right now.
Self custody or not?
Haven’t decided where I stand on this yet.
Right now I don’t self custody.
You must decide for yourself.
This is extremely serious if you hold any amount of bitcoin.
I was on spaces last night listening to all of this unfold. There was a lot going on but this is a great explanation of what’s happening.
Protect your bitcoin people.
@TheSamsPodcast May be cookie cutter but it’s what I do, it works, and for most people it’s probably the right advice.
Your situation sounds different though and you enjoy it instead of become stressed by it… so stay the course… nothing to correct if it’s working for you.
Bitcoin is supposed to be cash. However, where I stand currently is that bitcoins early and it’s a long term play so Hodl is my strategy. I don’t want to get rid of any of my bitcoin right now and I don’t want to use it as cash. One day that might change if it becomes the cash standard. However right now I wouldn’t invest everything into bitcoin and then try and pay your bills after the fact. Pay your bills with the fiat that you get from whatever source of income you have and then invest what’s remaining into bitcoin. You invest less but you don’t have the stress of figuring out how to pay bills while simultaneously trying not to selling your bitcoin.
People are yearning for more "real life." Running clubs, hiking tours, ski instructing... it's just so clear to me the explosion of analog.
2036 is going to feel like 2065, and because of that, the opportunity is to build businesses that feel like 1965
AI has created a massive impact on my business (https://t.co/Vt4ZyflSfQ). However even as an AI and software services firm, you’d be surprised to hear how few layoffs we’ve made because of AI alone.
On the flip side… you hear about companies who were aggressive in their layoffs and have been hiring back.
Not everything should be automated. You have to focus on what matters.
We have tendered an offer sheet to Anaheim center Leo Carlsson. The offer is a five-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $18M, which would require four of the Flyers first-round draft picks in each of the next four seasons as compensation. https://t.co/nfhD4h6nEc
