But I think people yearn for some sincere fantasy storytelling that doesn’t look like concrete
"Nerd culture" is a toxic lumbering monster that has only contributed to isolate scifi, fantasy, superheroes, etc from the rest of the artistic conversation and make those genres go septic and inbred. If we want them to survive, nerd culture needs to die
I’m so fuckin sick of how these movies look, man. Why is there such a uniform rubbery drabness? So few blockbusters employ any sort of exciting visual language within their CGI elements. There’s no depth or texture. Sucks.
Nerds without media literacy see stories about droids/holograms being sentient but treated like they’re not, and think the stories are LITERALLY advocacy for the personification of AI instead of realizing those stories are ALLEGORIES for the depersonification of oppressed humans.
