The Sharฤซ'ah does not permit a Muslim to cause harm to himself, herself or to others.
One of the ways by which we cause harms to ourselves and others is by extending our Muแนฃallฤ (praying area) to public roads.
What if someone was dying and needs to be quickly conveyed to a hospital? What if there is a pregnant woman who needs urgent medical help that's not readily available to her?
There could be tens of cases why public roads should never be obstructed for religious and non-religious purposes.
In mixed countries like Nigeria, it is totally wrong and absolutely unacceptable to block public roads. If a prayer session unavoidably and repeatedly leads to obstruction of public roads, it's a sign that we need to construct more Mosques so that people can be accommodated within the Mosques and their compounds. More so, praying outside the Mosque often leads to errors like praying ahead of the ฤชmฤm, and losing concentration in prayer.
In addition, spreading one's mat in the walkways of public areas like malls, pedestrian sides of a road where others should be walking by, and other areas like that is not proof of piety (if they have not been specifically designated for prayer by the authorities). Islam is not a religion that can be practised upon ignorance or ordinary emotions.
When a Muslim approaches his or her prayer, it has be with absolutely humility, civility, piety, and consciousness, never using it to harm others and still ensuring that he or she observes it in its rightful time.
If the time reaches while one is a journey, he or she is allowed to find a Mosque and pray or find other places that are serene and would not affect anyone else or pray ahead of the journey by combining the prayers that are permissible for combination when the time of either of the prayers has arrived on such occasions or continue the journey until one reaches the destination and then offer the prayers if/when it becomes impossible to pray on the way.
It is the duty of a Muslim to lookout for a Mosque when he or she reaches a new place. The Mosque is the first and most important institution for Muslims.
In Muslim majority societies or states where the vast majority joins the public prayers, it is important to construct more Mosques. If there is a spillover of believers that the Mosques are overwhelmed and people have to use parts of the road for prayer, the area must be properly marked and approved by the authorities. Yet, the entire road cannot be occupied. A good and spacious section of it must be preserved for road-users who are not praying and have urgent or non-urgent businesses or affairs to attend and travelers.

Itโs high time we move away from asking families of a deceased person to give money when we pray for their deceased. There is a strong argument against 8Day Fidau prayer gathering already. Adding the problem of asking money from the families and friends of the deceased is even gross. We should condole with, help to pay up the debts of the deceased and seek goodness for the family, not add to their misery or compound their suffering. May Allah rectify our affairs. ฤmฤซn.
Don't forget our brother so soon. Say a prayer for him, spread his recitations and preaching videos so the rewards may reach him in his grave in sha Allah...
The Prophet (PBUH) cautioned us when he said: โDo not express joy at your brotherโs misfortune or else Allah will pardon him for it and test you with itโ
