often wrong, active listening as redblack practice, commons, plant (un)based, degeneration, asemic, seeds are deeds, queerist, feminist, they/them 4all
@zoekennedy@OrdunVavonuh there’s useful left thinking about negative implications of the welfare state, especially that it is a subsidy for capitalism AND deskills us wrt crucial mutualist mechanisms for assuring collective wellbeing
we can lend critical support to redistribution and social protection
@OrdunVavonuh what’s useful about this is opposition to big capital and claim to collectivist politics
My sense is right libertarian vest is so loosely worn with these qualifications, that it makes a potential for better alliances than with leftists wedded to the state and its apparatuses
@OrdunVavonuh They are wrong to imagine that individualism aggregates to collective freedom yes.
They are very influenced by a continuity with a USian heritage of violence appropriation and dispossession, and yes both racism and market thinking. But a lot of that is hegemonic even on „left“
@HawkeyeSoames I don’t have background here but the left definitely should have its own opposition or critical analysis of
a) taxation
b) welfare and the cultivation of dependency
c) the state in all its forms
It is tragic that it doesn’t
@hate_nostalgia@davideastUK I recently went on a walk with an elderly Trotskyite professor very charming old friend of a parent but gave no quarter on great injustice of trans grabbing gold medals off the women. Absolutely lost their cool
@HongyuYang14 Hmmmm, but one could also ask ….. why should the left lament the failure of the bourgeoisie? Or rather, as borders and nations are creature of colonialism and bourgeoisie collaboration why isn’t it obvious that unity is itself a colonial project?
