today my dad told me that my ASD just isn't part of my story, I only want labels, there's no way I can have it and that he doesn't support me at all😞
I just wish I had more understanding and support from people close to me about me being different from them

anyone else with ASD get so confused when neurotypicals imply something? They say one thing but it has a hidden meaning behind it like, be direct with me or I won't be picking up on it and then they get mad/upset when I don't pick up on it?🥴

since being told by multiple professionals that they think it's very likely I have ASD and looking into testing, I'm realising how horrible society's portrayal of autism is. I'm new to all this but reactions so far have been so awful and uneducated ☹️

I spoke to my doctor today and he thinks it's pretty likely that I have ASD so we are going ahead with official autism testing in a few months🤞🏻 it explains so much

I'm exhausted hearing my parents tell me why I don't have ASD when I want testing done. "You just want a label, you're fine, it'll be so mild you won't get support, we would've seen it as a kid, you don't have it, scoring 147 on RAADS-R means nothing, nobody will employ you."
@InfluenceNot @ijustwanabethe1@mightbeautistic The best part being "lots of people are on the spectrum and don't go looking for labels, you're coping fine what help would you need??"
@InfluenceNot @ijustwanabethe1@mightbeautistic Definitely! Apparently they would've seen it in me as a kid and it'll affect my job in physics (surprise a lot of people in physics have ASD 🤣) and they also think it'll be so mild I won't even qualify for supports
@autismsupsoc my parents currently telling me I couldn't be autistic because they would've seen it, it'll impact my job, it's too mild to get support with even if I'm diagnosed and that I just want a label despite 4 therapists and a psychologist thinking I have ASD and RAADS-R score being 147

#AskingAutistics what’s the craziest reason someone insisted you couldn’t be autistic bc I once had a whole ass “professional” tell me I couldn’t be autistic because “autistic people don’t have friends”
@ijustwanabethe1@mightbeautistic Literally not the point! My parents are determined I don't have it and I just want a label like I can't even be intimate in my relationship bc sensory issues, I'm a loner and so confused socially and can't cope when overstimulated
