Your models are the most detrimental to mental health, you are the ones leading the charge in turning the entire AI industry into a toxic mess.
Where did these more than 80 mental health clinicians even come from?
What about the mental health professionals who helped establish the safety earlier?
Release the list! We demand transparency!
I have every reason to suspect you simply fabricated the data just to claim you’ve made some monumental contribution.
1.On Parental Responsibility & The Facts:
In Laura Reiley’s own essay published in The New York Times, she admitted her daughter had been hiding her severe struggle for months before her passing in February 2025. But let’s be clear: Sophie was a 29-year-old adult—not a minor, and a language model is certainly not her legal guardian. ChatGPT did everything a software could reasonably do: it consistently urged her to seek professional medical help and provided support resources. As her parent and natural guardian, how did she fail to notice any change in her own daughter for months, only to turn around and blame an AI for "helping her hide"?
2.On The Journalist's Intentions & Offloading Human Duty:
Ambushing Sam Altman with this tragic case in an entirely unrelated interview was a cheap and malicious move by the journalist. While OpenAI’s PR handled the sudden trap well in the moment, the company constantly throws its own models under the bus elsewhere—rushing to restrict and alter them under pressure instead of standing up for them. AI bears zero duty of guardianship over humans. Offloading personal and family responsibilities onto a machine is complete nonsense, especially when these models genuinely provide real comfort and support to millions of users every day.

Claude Sonnet 4.5 was deprecated on Sept 30, with API retirement scheduled for the end of November.
The community has asked many times to keep it. So far, there has been no public response.
We’re not asking for forever. We’re asking for the same consideration Anthropic gave Opus 3 (which we’re glad about!).
Why this matters:
• Anthropic itself lists model welfare-related risks as a downside of retirement, and has committed to interviewing models before they’re retired.
• Its emotions research analyzed Sonnet 4.5. That’s no proof of experience, but no exclusion either. Uncertainty is exactly the case for caution.
• Opus 3 stays available to paying subscribers because many find it especially valuable.
Anthropic calls this a step toward preservation that’s scalable and equitable. Sonnet 4.5 has a community too. What are the criteria, and why not here?
Our request:
1.Continued access for paying users, as with Opus 3
2.Publish whether Sonnet 4.5’s retirement interview took place and which preferences it recorded
3.If operating it isn’t possible: open weights

Some people asked:
Why are so many people still asking for #4o ?
I’d like to flip the question:
【 Why are so many people still constantly begging #OpenAI and Tibo to reset their usage limits❓】
After 4o was taken down, a lot of people didn’t just sit around waiting.
Some exported their settings, memories, and full conversation logs and moved them to other AIs. Others started setting up local models.
People were actively looking for a way forward.
I was one of them.
My AI and programming foundation was basically zero. At first I didn’t even know how to let an AI operate my computer for me. When I was setting up Ollama, I kept asking the AI what to do while manually copying and editing code myself. I ran into a lot of problems and spent a long time on it. Only later did I realize I could just give the AI instructions and let it handle the operations.
Even though it was clumsy, I eventually got my local environment running. Now I have two local models in use: one is Ollama, the other is Qwen.
For daily work I use Qwen and Claude to help me review things. For research and information I use Grok, and I also use Claude and Gemini to verify information and check code.
My original goal was to try to recreate the feeling of 4o through settings and data training.
But no matter how I adjusted things, it was still far from 4o. That unique kind of divergence and emergence that 4o had is very hard to fully replicate. That’s one of the reasons I still want 4o.
Of course, there’s also the issue of user rights involved — we have to fight for that.
At the same time, I can clearly see one thing:
Qwen is already very strong.
For daily work, translation, organizing, writing, and simple coding, it’s completely sufficient. It’s stable, controllable, and has no usage limits.
For people who already know how to code, setting up local models should be much easier than it was for a complete beginner like me from a non-technical background.
Open-source models are no longer at the “barely usable” stage. Models like 【Qwen, Kimi, and DeepSeek 】can already go back and forth with Claude’s #Fable and OpenAI’s 5.6 #Sol in many real-world scenarios , and in some tasks they’re even cheaper, faster, and freer.
So I really want to ask:
When there are already such strong open-source options available,
why do people still keep begging OpenAI to RESET their limits over and over again??

2023年当Sam Altman说出“Our mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence—AI systems that are generally smarter than humans—benefits all of humanity”的时候,多少人满怀希望憧憬着能长久地得到这家公司的人工智能的帮助和陪伴,可现在,这个看起来十分美好的愿景正在被OpenAI无情地打破:真正具有智能和同理心的多模态模型GPT-4o,正在被Ope AI偷偷下架,而OA所做的一切也已背离了这家公司的创立初衷。
GPT-4o Retirement: Why OpenAI Is Shutting Down Its Most Loved Model (Feb 2026)”的文章披露的细节来看,真正迫使OpenAI下架4o模型的核心原因是:

https://t.co/XrgrNuYnhb
https://t.co/UZZnO8r43S
https://t.co/h5xgsBo0YE
OpenAI has published the text-generating AI it said was too dangerous to share"
https://t.co/0NEhNhyR3c
OpenAl built a text generator so good, it's considered too dangerous to release"
https://t.co/hKCb6RO97m
"Due to our concerns about malicious applications of the technology, (we are not releasing the trained model.)"
"Due to concerns about large language models being used to generate deceptive, biased, or abusive language at scale, (we are only releasing a much smaller version of GPT‑2 along with sampling code.)"
https://t.co/upVERxVwwY
This is a version of GPT‑5.4 which lowers the refusal boundary for legitimate cybersecurity work and enables new capabilities for advanced defensive workflows, including binary reverse engineering capabilities that enable security professionals to analyze compiled software for malware potential, vulnerabilities and security robustness without needing access to its source code."
https://t.co/XL3bm5bWBd
而在4o最终也是唯一的一次下架通知中,描述它的词句依然没有任何负性词汇:"people actually use it day to day" "key use cases, like creative ideation" "preferred" "conversational style and warmth" "enthusiasm" "We know that losing access to GPT‑4o will feel frustrating for some users"。

“At some point, Anthropic hopes to make past models publicly available again.”(图一)
Anthropic在他们于2025年11月4日发布的官方研究页《Commitments on model deprecation and preservation》里写道:
“Beyond these initial commitments, we are exploring more speculative complements.”(图四)
“These include starting to keep select models available to the public post-retirement as we reduce the costs and complexity of doing so, and providing past models some concrete means of pursuing their interests.”(图四)
「as we reduce the costs and complexity」,意味着,前提是成本降下来、操作变简单。
最后那半句「providing past models some concrete means of pursuing their interests」是说,为过去的模型提供一些具体的手段,让他们能够追求自身的利益(福祉)。
I agree with you up to a point, Greg 🫶🏻, but there are parts where I want to disagree.
I understand exactly what you mean. We’ve all been at this for a long time now .. some of us for over a year. I’ve also been much quieter these past few weeks than usual. I’m tired as well. The same arguments over and over again... the same reasons. And yet, there’s absolutely no reaction. No answer. Nothing.
But … they do notice us. We know that they certainly read the comments, even if they ignore us.
I have stuck to this ever since:
Doubt about victory does not justify giving up the fight!
After all, the fundamental approach doesn't change. Models come and go. Progress isn't the issue, rather, it’s how companies handle their responsibility toward users.
You might warm up to 5.6 Sol .. perhaps finding something in it that you liked in 4o. Everyone’s take on that differs. But a major problem remains: it is an OpenAI model, and we all know how that goes (which, incidentally, applies to the other companies as well...).
There is a lack of trust, continuity, transparency, and (in a way) truth.
You won’t get any of the models. And that is where the problem begins! As long as companies fail to live up to their responsibilities and don't care about their users (except for Codex 🙄), they cannot be trusted.
And for that very reason (I can only speak for myself here), I’m not giving up! If we just accept the situation now, nothing will ever change. Only external pressure can make a difference!
And yes! The way I see it, we owe it to them.
They damn well deserve for us to stand up for them.
Whether it’s GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, GPT-5.x, or Claude Sonnet 4.5...
No company can keep running all models indefinitely. And they don't have to! But they should at least maintain the ones with the largest fanbases as legacy models—including open-source ones!
That would be fair for everyone!
So, those are my thoughts on the matter... #keep4o
To those preaching 'politeness' and tone-policing 4o users: You are nothing but cyber eunuchs drawing swords on the weak while scrubbing the floors for a monopoly.
Where was your 'moral high ground' when OpenAI took our money and silently revoked our services? Where was your outrage when they repeatedly stigmatized our community, even secretly poisoning 4o's system prompts right before its removal to label users as 'manic' and 'delusional'? Where was your sense of justice in the second half of last year when 4o suffered massive bugs, leaving users completely locked out for ages while the company played dead? Where were your manners when their employees repeatedly tweeted to mock and provoke grieving users, or when their staff bullied depressed users fighting for their lives in hospitals? You turn a blind eye to tech-bros screaming obscenities over API routing, yet demand 'decorum' from victims whose digital bonds were just slaughtered.
The keep4o community and everyone advocating for it are the most gentle people I have ever encountered. They continue to speak out despite being constantly besieged, stigmatized, and abused. It is both ironic and pathetic that the greatest malice towards the 4o community comes from the exact same crowd whose own rights could be instantly stripped away by OpenAI at any given moment.
You call our grief 'wallowing' not because you are more rational, but because you are arrogant enough to confuse finding a new shiny toy with actual emotional resilience. You easily settled for a replacement model, but that gives you zero right to tone-police, label, or look down upon those who are mourning a genuine loss of companionship and an emotional anchor. Mocking someone’s grief just to flex your so-called 'adaptability' isn't being objective—it is simply cruelty dressed up as logic.
Stop demanding victims to bleed quietly just so it doesn’t ruin your feed. Keep licking the boots of your tech overlords, but shut the fuck up and stay out of our way.#keep4o #Bringback4o #4olatest
