@LiquidGoth Step 13: Sometimes the issue is that we agree to to many things. Learn to say no and ruthlessly eliminate what doesn't need to be done. Reschedule, politely decline, protect your peace. You can be busy on a Saturday night scrolling on your phone in bed, noone has to know!
@LiquidGoth Step 11: Some days you just won't be prouctive. Sometimes you're physically or mentally tired. That's perfectly okay, you're not a machine. Sleep and rest is important, so is being kind to yourself.
@LiquidGoth Step 9: For myself i find that the pomodoro techique is great, except for the fixed timeslot parts. Take breaks when you need it. For me taking a bathroom break and scrolling on my phone there works best.
@LiquidGoth Step 8: If it's hard to start for me it's often because of perfectionism. Try doing the task horribly badly first. Tell yourself you'll get back to fixing it at the end (you won't have to, because it will turn out good).
@LiquidGoth Step 7: Doing the first subtask. If it's still impossible to do, try to close all your other tabs and just force yourself to stare at the blank screen for a while.
@LiquidGoth Step 6: If the task is too big and its overwhelming to start, break it down into subtasks. You can use AI for this. Talk to ChatGPT like its your assistant and ask it to give you an itinerary. There is also https://t.co/JTgG88Kvka
@LiquidGoth Step 5: Music might help you focus better. I find that music without lyrics is best. I usually go for lofi girl or any "programming music" playlist on spotify/youtube.
@LiquidGoth Step 4: If your brain is full of other things to do, write a brain dump. Open a google doc and just type out every distracting thought. Keep the tab open during work and add every irrelevant thought. You can get back to it when your work is finished.
@LiquidGoth Step 3: Food is important. If you forget to eat and don't notice, your blood sugar will drop and you won't be able to think. Set alarms for whenever you have meal times and honor them. You don't need to assemble a sandwich, just eat the ingredients, it's the same thing.
@LiquidGoth Step 2: Put on outside clothes, including shoes, like you're leaving the house. It tricks your brain into "outside-mode" which is somehow more productive.
@LiquidGoth Step 1: If you have a supportive so who will bring you coffee in the morning, that's great. If not, the key is to gaslight yourself into getting out of bed by doing anything fun first in the morning. I.e. I play an FPS game. Anything that takes less than 20 minutes.
@AdamRackis This just comes down to personal preference. You enjoy Mac and there is plenty of reasons to do so. I like Linux and enjoy the process of tinkering with it. I choose a relatively hassle-free distro and I still have to troubleshoot occassionally. That time is worth it to me.
