The slogan, "Once saved, always saved" is biblical. When a person is saved, justified, redeemed, and born again by God's grace, they are protected by the power of God unto salvation (1 Pet. 1:5). They are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Eph. 4:30). No one can snatch them out of the Father's hand (Jn. 10:27-30). Jesus loses none (Jn. 6:39). We are not saved by grace but kept by works. Grace will lead us home, as Newton rightly wrote in his classic hymn.
What is also biblical is that MANY in local churches claim to be saved, but are not.
- There are those who take the broad way to destruction, thinking it will get them to heaven (Mt. 7:13-14).
- There are this who follow false teachers thinking they are being led to heaven, but in reality are being led to hell (Mt. 7:15-20).
- There are those in the church who say, "Lord, Lord" and do miraculous works in Jesus' name, who are not known by Christ in a saving way and rejected at last (Mt. 7:21-23).
- There are those who build their house upon the sand of works righteousness that are exposed on judgment day as false (Mt. 7:24-27).
- There are those who profess to know Jesus Christ but with their deeds they deny Him (Titus 1:16).
- There are false teachers who rise up from within the church and draw away disciples after themselves into error and destruction (Acts 20:.28-30).
- There are false teachers who attend churches, blend in with believers, but are those for whom the black darkness has been reserved for ever (Jude 12-13).
- There are those in the church who say many things Christians say, but do not do what Christians do, and are lost and perishing (See chart below from 1 John).
Once saved, always saved, but you first need to be saved by repenting of your sin and placing your faith in Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4). You must be born again (Jn. 3:7) by grace alone (Eph. 2:8-9), through faith alone (Jn. 3:14-18), in Jesus Christ alone (Jn. 3:36). According to the Word of God, local churches are full of unbelievers who profess to know Jesus Christ, but do not. Make sure you know the Lord according to what the Bible says. https://t.co/lnNapw2qsV

Wow! With 52 seconds left, Austin Lundberg takes a free kick for @AHS_HawkSoccer and boots the ball off the head of a Linn-Mar defender and into the net for an equalizer. We are going to OT tied at 1-1.
90 minutes was not enough. We are headed to 2nd OT. Some incredible play going on. Here is the Lundberg goal to send it to OT! Here we go @AHS_HawkSoccer
