If you know Amy, you know she comes from serious soap opera roots: daughter of former #DAYS (head) writer Anne Schoettle, DAYS director David Shaughnessy and niece of Charles Shaughnessy.
Now she’s taking on the role of Elise in The Henry Clyde Canning Murder House, a new play by Christian Missonak, winner of the 2025 VOX NOVA Playwright Festival.
The story centers on the adult children of a convicted serial killer who reunite years later, forcing old secrets, family trauma and society’s fascination with true crime back into the spotlight.

I just wanna talk to whoever made the decision to make this show Days of EJ Dimera. You could have picked almost anyone else and it would’ve been a better option #Days
THE 3RD ANNUAL CHAT AWARDS - #TheChat
For this year's #CHATAward, celebrating excellence in the field of daytime drama, we have chosen to honor Deidre Hall, best known to daytime audiences as Dr. Marlena Evans on the Peacock soap opera, "Days of Our Lives" #DAYS
Days of Our Lives’s Bryan Dattilo opens up about the death of Patrick Muldoon, his TV brother, and shares memories of their decades-long bond. https://t.co/XHfy0ZafU2
We have always held that tiny speck of hope that #DaysofourLives would give us back those glory years when the show was exciting, when you couldn’t wait to see what would happen next or which character might return. But the truth is… that’s never going to happen.
Almost every character they’ve brought back ends up in a disappointing storyline. Our favorites return, only to be gone again in less than a week. Just look at how they wasted Louise Sorel as Vivian. How they wasted Bo and Hope. Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso’s return sometimes feels like it’s just used to lure fans into subscribing to Peacock, only for viewers to be left disappointed. They can’t even give quality material to talented actors like Deidre Hall and Stacy Haiduk, or when they bring Thaao Penghlis back it’s only for a short arc. I’ve even heard that Crystal Chappell has turned down offers to return as Dr. Carly Manning three different times — and honestly, I don’t blame her. I always hoped my favorite character, Lawrence Alamain (Michael Sabatino), would return someday. But at this point you have to ask — are the writers even capable of making a return like that worthwhile? It really feels like the show has moved on and continues to ignore longtime fans. We got excited thinking new writers would make a difference, but time and time again we’re left disappointed. This is the truth. This is the reality.
I’ve always wished a platform like #Netflix would buy Days of our Lives and give it the budget and care it deserves, instead of the stingy limitations we see now on #Peacock. All we can really do is thank #Days for the incredible memories from the 80s and 90s. And it’s okay if you enjoy the current show — I totally respect that. But if you grew up watching the show in the 80s or 90s, you probably understand exactly why many of us feel this way. I know we have to move on and adapt to the new version of the show… but it’s difficult when the show feels so far below what it once was. There are more people watching old #DOOL clips on X than actual full new episodes on Peacock.
