✅ PI NETWORK: WHY THE PCT TAKES A “SLOW BUT STEADY” APPROACH TO DEX & SMART CONTRACTS ⚖️🛡️
If you are one of those wondering “wen PiDEX?”, take a moment to read this.
From the very beginning, the Pi Core Team has maintained a clear stance: prioritize legal compliance and build real utility, rather than rushing into speculation. This is not slowness it is a smart strategy.
→ 1. No need to rush complex DEX & Smart Contracts yet
Most dApps currently built on Pi focus on solving real needs: buying goods, exchanging services, and making daily payments.
When users can already use Pi to buy bread, pay utility bills, or restock inventory for their businesses, pushing for complex DEX features at this stage would only add unnecessary technical burden. More importantly, it could easily turn Pi into a target for global financial regulators.
→ 2. Waiting for the “legal shield” CLARITY Act & major regulations
The PCT has a team of top legal advisors. They refuse to launch financial features prematurely while the regulatory framework remains unclear.
Once the CLARITY Act and rules for stablecoins and digital assets come into effect, Pi will be among the very few projects that are fully compliant and legitimate. This stands in sharp contrast to projects that rush to launch just to dump their tokens.
→ 3. Utility-First real use before financial tools
The PCT is proving a different path:
• No artificial price pumping through speculative DeFi.
• Focus on creating actual demand: Pi that works like real money in daily life.
When people are already accustomed to using Pi as a currency, Smart Contracts and DeFi will become tools to improve efficiency not just instruments for speculation.
→ 4. The community needs to shift its mindset
Instead of asking “wen Mainnet, wen DEX” every day, we should focus on building and using real-world applications.
Patience is not idle waiting it is strategic patience. To build a tall building, you must first lay a solid foundation and follow the rules from the start. The same applies to Pi.
IN SHORT 📌
The current pace is not a sign of weakness — it is playing the long game. The PCT chooses to move slowly in the short term to ensure Pi remains stable and sustainable for the next 5–10 years, with legal and practical value that cannot be easily shaken.
💬 WHAT DO YOU THINK?
→ What specific actions should the Pi community take to help drive real utility, instead of focusing only on financial concepts?

Take on the Pi2Day Ecosystem Quest to celebrate new feature releases and receive a special in-app badge!
The Ecosystem Quest guides Pioneers to complete activities to discover new apps, test ecosystem features, and understand how Pi’s infrastructure supports utility creation across compute, AI, and identity.
Certain steps in the Quest require completing a quiz, so remember to pay attention to the updates! You can show-off your in-app badge in Pi Chats, Fireside Forum, and Pi Social Profiles.
Participate in the Ecosystem Quest by tapping the “Pi2Day” icon on the top right of the Pi mining app home screen. The event will end on July 13.

Pi2Day (tomorrow, June 28) is a moment to engage with new product releases and gain insight into the direction and priorities of the network.
Reminder: This year, Pioneers also have a timely opportunity to take part in app utilities expansion, community growth, and ecosystem development feedback before the events end tomorrow on June 28.
Participate in the two initiatives, the vibe coder campaign and Pi Launchpad Testnet token, now and stay tuned tomorrow for Pi2Day!

Our vision has always been simple💚
Build a place where playing, creating, and belonging all happen in the same world.
Where every Pioneer can find a game worth their time, and every developer can find a home.
The journey with Pi is just getting started.
Big kudos to Mainnet Node operators for upgrading to v23.
Most major Nodes have now been upgraded, and the protocol is expected to move to v23 soon.
This was one of the most challenging upgrades to date, as it involved multiple subsystem upgrades and optimizations that required internal data reprocessing.
Protocol 22 -> 23, Ubuntu 20 -> 24, PostgreSQL 12 -> 16
Pi is tackling one of the most urgent problems in the AI era: proving real human identity online.
Pi Founder Nicolas Kokkalis will speak on a panel at Consensus 2026 on Thursday, May 7, from 10:15-10:45 AM EDT at the Convergence Stage.
The session, “How to Prove You're Human in an AI World (Without Doxing Yourself),” explores how the internet’s trust model is breaking as AI systems become capable of creating bots that can generate profiles and interact like real users.
At the core of the discussion is a simple challenge: how do you verify a real human online without exposing private identity data?
Want to know how? Join us in Miami on May 7th!
See you there!
