@Quasilocal I don't know if you know that one, but he had a letter exchange in 2000, out of prison, where he advises against going into math because that job would be taken by AI.
I used to think maybe I'm just a classist urbanoid, because I've always hated most interactions with cab drivers, delivery guys etc
Took me some time to understand why I actually feel this way.
It's the sheer amount of mental energy these interactions require.
You tell them something, and they simply don't understand.
You have to dumb everything down, explain little things repeatedly, and constantly adjust how you're communicating, and also adjust the level of aggression you display because being polite to these cunning dehatis is usually not a good idea either.
It sounds trivial, but there's way too much context switching, and the mental energy you expend just isn't worth it.
This is exactly how I feel interacting with young trad-larping inceljeets on Twitter.
You have to get down to their level just to get your basic ideas into their brain (and it almost never works of course)
The mental energy expenditure is simply way too high compared to talking to people who are normal.
if you feel the same way, just remember that these people are sub-humans and you are right for hating them.
Vishwaguru explained in one tweet.
Every frustration you have with how this country operates ultimately boils down to one thing:
We gave people the right to vote before we got industrialized.
The British-educated elites who built independent India introduced universal suffrage immediately after independence because it was fashionable and classy at the time, much like socialism was the elite status-signalling ideology of the era.
The people who made that choice, and their children, were largely insulated from its consequences.
The rest of us are now stuck fixing the feudal shithole they left behind.
I used to be a chronic procrastinator and it left me an absolute shell of a human. doing things immediately and with intense urgency was truly the cure. you think of an idea and you write it down instantly. you think of someone and you text them on the spot. even a mundane task like putting your laundry away gets done the second it appears. stop leaving things for later. just do it now
As someone who wants to keep his academic job until the mortgage is paid off, let me state in no uncertain terms that I stand with the fraud/plagiarist/fabulist+ community.
