"If you disclose your charity, it is good. But if you conceal it and give it to the poor, it is better for you. He will remove some of your sins because of it. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do."

(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:271)

The best charity isn't always the one people applaud. Sometimes, the deed known only to you and Allah carries the greatest reward. Give sincerely, seek Allah's pleasure, and let your generosity speak louder than your recognition.

A few months ago, I entered a commercial bus in Ibadan.

An elderly man sat quietly beside me while everyone else was pressing their phones.

Suddenly, his phone rang.

He answered with excitement.

"Alhamdulillah! He has been employed? Thank You, Allah."

I smiled, thinking his own son had finally secured a job.

A few minutes later, curiosity made me ask,

"Congratulations, sir. Is it your son?"

He laughed.

"No. He's my neighbour's son."

Then he said something I have never forgotten:

"If your heart only celebrates when good things happen to your own children, it is already becoming too small."

That statement humbled me.

We live in a time where some people secretly feel uncomfortable when others succeed. They compare, compete, and sometimes even pray for delay not because they need more, but because someone else has received something.

A good heart doesn't become poorer because another person is blessed.

Celebrate people genuinely.

Your own time will come.
