✨ Intro Post - April 2026 ✨
Hi! I’m Levi! 🏳️🌈
I’m a reader, board gamer, teacher, designer, newbie lifter, husband, and D&D nerd based in Sin City! 🎰
I’ll be posting thoughts on #Books, #BoardGames, #TTRPGs ( #PF2 & #DnD), #Knitting, #Sewing , & #Teaching, so follow along!
Played in the #DnD Ravenloft: Season of Horror Celebration on Monday! TBH, the DM was unorganized and unprepared, but we still had a good time.
The new #Ravenloft sourcebook adds so many great features back into 5.5e!
Deep inner suffering inevitably arises when the human person is reduced to performance, consumption, or a statistical datum. Many young people today live under the yoke of expectations to perform, immersed in an exasperated competitiveness that generates anxiety, fear of not measuring up, and disorientation.
The Pope just dropped the theological patch notes for the entire AI industry:
“Your chatbot can generate a breakup text, a fake Van Gogh, and a VC deck about replacing nurses, but it has never held its mother’s hand in a hospital room, never felt shame, never prayed, never forgiven anyone, never had to live with what it said.”
It can imitate the soul.
It cannot grow one.
“I can’t give honest feedback when it is not honest work. I can’t help you work out how you want to think about something, how you want to be in the world, if you are not using your own brain to tell me where you are.” 👍
Any educator defending the use of AI is a scab.
BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV published his landmark encyclical on artificial intelligence "Magnifica Humanitas,” comparing the attempt to build an AI future that excludes God to the "Tower of Babel" and underlining the need to safeguard human dignity as it is "threatened by new forms of dehumanization."
"The risk of dehumanization -- of building a future that excludes God and reduces the other to a means -- is an ancient and ever-new temptation that today takes on a technical guise," Pope Leo said.
"In the era of artificial intelligence, when human dignity is threatened by new forms of dehumanization, ours is the pressing duty to remain profoundly human. We must lovingly safeguard the grandeur of humanity bestowed upon us and revealed in its fullness in Christ, the splendor of which no machine can ever replace.”
As someone who left Magic 10 years ago, & had only played Standard, & is now back to only play Commander — here’s the deal. Commander is REAL Magic. It’s community based & social - it’s not about winning, it’s about playing the game & sharing stories, which is the core of Magic.
There's more commander players than ever. And more cards are being made and sold than ever!
But you can't compete at "real" magic every week at your local store. It looks like that's dead and gone. Maybe that's what veterans see? And I feel they are right.
Do you need to know Japanese to play Magic in Japan?
Got a lot of questions regarding this topic since I uploaded my first reel last week, so decided to start a new series called "Gathering the 日本語". 🇯🇵
Thank you @TokyoMTG and @zedoji for letting me record at your store!
Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.
Let us learn to be rich in a different way: more attentive to relationships, more intent on valuing the common good, more attached to the local area, more grateful in welcoming and integrating those who come to live with us.
