Secunda Home Affairs Officials Caught Selling South African IDs to Foreigners!
Two former Department of Home Affairs workers from Secunda have been arrested and remanded in custody for identity theft and fraud.
Portia Mtshweni and Nondumiso Maboyi allegedly helped issue South African IDs to Zimbabweans and a Mozambican, plus a fake birth certificate for a Zimbabwean child. This is the kind of corruption that makes South Africans so angry.
While locals battle to get basic documents, some officials were busy selling our citizenship like cheap goods. The system is completely broken. #HomeAffairsCorruption #SellingSAIDs #DeportIllegalsNow #SouthAfricansFirst
The ZAR has lost 75% of its purchasing power in the last 25-26 years.
R25.50 in the year 2000 has the same purchasing power as R100,00 today.
You’d actually need around R392 in today’s money to match R100 back then.

Something additional: you’ve been aware of this issue since 2011. It is 2026 and you are still having customers experiencing the same thing in 2026 as others have been experiencing since 2011. So you have done nothing to correct this in 15 years? Address @MashitishoA’s complaint.
Salaries are lost in this Standard Bank debacle.
I think that we may see an actual bank run in no time.
Not that there is care to be expected, but are you watching and advising @SAReserveBank ?
Brace yourselves.
So @StandardBankZA was gonna spend 45 business days just to inform me that it is all my fault that money in my account was stolen and cannot be reimbursed.
I mean their level of conduct is appalling, they could’ve saved my breath and energy by telling me this from the get go
I’d be pissed and just move all my bonds, money, investments, and any other products from that bank to another bank.
There is no ways that is their response to the hundreds of stories that have come out in the last 4 days alone.
