@AfzalKhanMCR We at Xaverian College are on strike again tomorrow due to being one of 40 colleges left out of the 5.5% pay rise. We have a picket on Lower Park Road again tomorrow and would love your support in the morning as our college MP.
32 college are on strike today as the gov left non-academised sixth form colleges out of the inflation teacher pay rise. We at Xaverian in Manchester are 1 of 7 north west colleges out on strike today. #payup@MENnewsdesk@AndyBurnhamGM@BBCRadioManc
@northernassist No heating at all on the glossop service as apparently the heating system is a ‘fire risk’. So in -3 we all look this. Why is this the case to pay for a ticket and to be travelling in an icy train?
@northernassist for the second morning in a row the 7:17 from glossop to Manchester is cancelled. This morning was very last minute. Every third train was cancelled yesterday too. Always says a train crew shortage. What is happening with this line?
@AndyBurnhamGM@LouHaigh both of my commuting trains are cancelled tomorrow to/from Manchester (7.17 and 17:03) & yesterday was bus replacement all day with no trains btwn Glossop-MCR. Do you want us all to drive into MCR at rush hour? Can you please look into Northern trains?
@mfordhamhistory In terms of more of a challenge for GCSE with class sizes- well we have 23-25 in a History a level class at my college. For me to manage the NEA for a large course (121 yr13 entries 2023) with big classes is hard. The idea is great, but it becomes unworkable for us & loses value
Chuffed for my history and politics students who still managed amazing results, and no fails across 150 kids! For what we think as the most disadvantaged covid group (didn’t sit external GCSEs yet no advanced information), they did unbelievably well.
Off to Nepal with 39 Yr12’s today for two weeks - do state school trips get any better?! They’ve fundraised a lot themselves as the second week they are teaching English in a mountain village school. Amazing experience for them and me!
@_MissieBee@TeachersSPL@TeachersSPL it’s a little disappointing that this guide is all ‘mother’ and ‘father’ - what about teachers who are in same sex marriages/partnerships having a baby who are looking for advice?
@missdjackson99 Danni it’s the best CPD I have ever done - I’ve done it every year I’ve taught (and im a team leader this year on our Tudor paper). Ring the board and ask which papers they’ve got less markers on, say you’ve taught loads of gcse on training and marked lots this year
It’s #giveaway time! 🎉📚 I’m offering up a stack of FIVE hardbacks I’ve read and loved recently AND a signed copy of #TheLockedAttic. Simply like & RT and I’ll pick a winner at random at midnight next Friday. (26 June) (UK only)
@missdjackson99 well done on your History A Level placement this term at our college, finishing off by teaching 2 full 1.5 hour lessons as the solo teacher. You’ve done a diligent and professional job. You are going to be (and are) an excellent teacher, we have loved having you!
@brumrosie I marked 39 History draft NEAs and 34 final, plus lots of additional ones of my teams for standardising and moderating. Huge huge a level workload for coursework subjects Vs non-coursework subjects
@UoNSoEHistory I don’t think I’m on the mailing list - I have a PT session booked which I can’t change now. Next time though, LGBT history was my specialist subject at university and so I will 100% be at the next one!
