SSRIs have such a lengthy half life in the body that it takes two months of ingesting them every day, for them to begin to have the desired effect on the patient. Yes that’s right, there’s a multi month delay between when you begin taking the drug, and when it is biologically available / capable of having any measurable effect on the patient

You can’t just pretend that taking a few days worth of an ssri is some diabolical big pharma conspiracy that robs women of their agency. SSRIs literally don’t even have any impact for the first few weeks a patient is taking them.

Pretending like a couple of days worth of Prozac or Lexapro can make someone feel plastered & undermine their ability to freely exercise agency in the world, is the most delusional retarded lie I’ve ever heard.

It betrays the profound ignorance of everyone making these claims, because they don’t even have a baseline familiarly with the underlying mechanism of action or what these drugs affect or how. They don’t know shit about shit. And they’re hoping that you won’t either, so they can just keep making shit up.

But um sorry, upper middle class soccer mommies in the 70s & 80s were downing benzos by the bucketload, back when doctors gave them out like candy. All benzos do is relax the central nervous system so you feel at ease & not stressed. They don’t make you feel wasted, intoxicated, change your personality or cause you to behave in ways you would not otherwise behave. That’s not how psychiatric drugs work.

I could mash a Prozac and a Xanax into your food everyday for a week, and if you weren’t told you were ingesting them, you wouldn’t notice anything. The idea that an elementary ssri + and a central nervous depressant that calms you down, are like hard drugs that make you completely plastered and out of control, is the most retarded delusional bullshit I’ve ever heard. Stop peddling these weird lies. Makes you seem like a retarded freak.

The whole defense argues that psych meds significantly worsened and exacerbated the symptoms she already had postpartum. Her symptoms pre-SSRI’s may not have to lead to psychosis. They didn’t with her first 2 kids. So, perhaps without the initial meds OR with the right ones, she may have not have declined so much that she killed her kids. That is my point.

This whole period of time was her trying to figure out how to get back to work. Thats why they tried out a nanny. She got a 6 week extension at one point. If u read interviews w patrick and other testimony, she said it feels unnatural to leave the baby and he tells her *he* didnt think it’d be good for her to be a SAHM. Im questioning whether taking the main stressor off of her shoulders could have lowered her anxiety enough to never have tried SSRIs.
