I’ve realized that many people don’t actually love reading books. They love the identity of being someone who reads books. The aesthetic of it. The photos. The intellectual vibe. But the quiet discipline of reading slowly and thinking deeply? That part is very unpopular.
someone at work said that a generation of kids growing up not reading books is a generation of kids not learning how to imagine what it's like to put themselves in someone else's shoes and understand how/why they feel what they do (empathy)
I'm collaborating with a bunch of other black women on an anthology centered around a magical hair salon. There will be aliens and alchemy and ghosts. Think Love, Death, and Robots but with braids and bantu knots.

Happy birthday to Breonna Taylor and Tyre Nichols. They should be here to celebrate. In a perfect world we wouldn’t even know their names, they’d just be living their lives and existing. May their memories be a blessing & their families continue to heal in whatever way they can.
