@OhioMuseums Questions you don’t know the answer to and give actionable information. Ask only what is relevant. Unless gender or age is important no need to ask. A useful question is the Smithsonian 5-point Overall Experience Rating AND ask respondents to explain their rating. #OHMuseumChat

@OhioMuseums Some simple techniques are observations or interviews. I f curators want to know if visitors understand text for a graphic - print text, ask 5 random people in the museum to read it, and explain it to you. You’ll know…It doesn’t always have to be complicated. #OHMuseumChatp

@OhioMuseums Depends on the purpose. I recommend a comprehensive survey once a year, as an annual check-up with your audience. We use the AAM Annual Survey of Museum-Goers. It gives a lot of useful data and compares our results to other museums, including other Ohio museums. #OHMuseumChat
