I don't think the Founders ever anticipated there'd come a time when both Congress and the Supreme Court would abdicate their responsibility to resist an out-of-control president.
We pay the premiums. We pay the deductibles. We pay the copays.
Then when we actually need care, an insurance company gets to decide whether it will pay.
Healthcare should exist to keep people alive and healthy, not to maximize shareholder returns.
Something has to change.
Every Republican politician should go home…look their family members in the eye, and say, “I have failed as a human being. I sold my soul. I am corrupt…inside and out. There is nothing honest about me. Because I have enabled Donald Trump, I am an accomplice to more felonies than I can count. At the end of the day, I am…a coward.”
Lindsey Graham died Friday & his sister has already been sworn in. Remember when Mike Johnson refused to seat Adelita Grijalva for 50 days after she was elected? That is what we are fighting for in the midterms, a return to democracy & fairness and to remove fascist Republicans.
All the signals are flashing red, the latest being @POTUS's summary dismissal of the remaining Federal Election Assistance Commission members.
Put that together with political hack Pulte's odious appt as DNI; election deniers in the most sensitive oversight positions; Trump's exec order on mail-in voting, and potential use of the Postal Service as a weapon of subversion; his pathological prioritization of the SAVE act, which would be the most powerful voter suppression tool in generations; and his persistent, unfounded claims of election fraud, which he uses to justify extraordinary federal interventions.
On the square, the @GOP would take a beating this fall, largely because of Trump's unpopularity.
So he's setting up Plan B--do whatever you need to do to win. Anything.
Anyone who says "Well, he wouldn't do THAT" hasn't paid attention. He's already proven he will!
So the period AFTER the Midterms may be even more turbulent than the run up to them.
The courts are going to be very busy this fall.
JD Vance promoting his book about finding his way back to faith while helping manage Situation Room meetings on how to cover up for pedophiles is about as Republican as it gets.
Gretchen Carlson calls out Trump’s DOJ for targeting E. Jean Carroll: “Because of me coming forward almost 10 years ago now against Fox News for sexual harassment... this is very personal to me that the President of the United States would be coming after somebody who had the courage to come forward.”
They loved Marjorie Taylor Greene, now they hate her.
They loved Thomas Massie, now they hate him.
They loved Lauren Boebert, now they hate her.
They made fun of Biden for nodding off ("Sleepy Joe), now they ignore Trump outright falling asleep.
They put "I Did That" Biden stickers on high gas prices, now they ignore gas prices being even higher.
They bragged about Trump being the no wars President, now they support war.
They bashed Biden for sending money to Ukraine, now they ignore Trump sending money to both Ukraine and Israel.
They demanded the Epstein files, now they bash anyone asking for the Epstein files.
To be a MAGA is to be a slave.
Not physically, but mentally.
They stand for nothing.
We're up against people who stand for nothing.
And with the most misplaced confidence you've ever seen, they try to tell us whats-what.
We shouldn't even acknowledge these people.
The Trump supporters that remain are mentally too far gone.
I don't even want to argue with them anymore.
The truth is we’ve always held Donald Trump to a pathetically low standard - the lowest standard any politician has ever been held to. Trump gets away with behavior no other politician would ever get away with. He’s treated like a child who doesn’t know any better.
Shameful.
Rubio: Imagine if Iran funded the well-being of its people, rather than its military
Trump, two days later: We can’t fund daycare or Medicaid, we need more money for our military
“I don’t walk as easy as I used to.
I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to.
I don’t debate as well as I used to.
But I know what I do know:
I know how to tell the truth."
