@zoe_bearx Last time I moved the estate agents wouldn’t let me make a formal offer until I had an offer on my home and that was 18 months ago. It’s a pain and we lost out on a house because of it…keep the faith 💕
@bphillipsonMP@Jacqui_Smith1 But there are still vacancies that can’t be filled. In a staff room yesterday I overheard teachers talking about classes that have had supply teachers all year and my youngest granddaughter is always talking about having supply teachers…and yet another worksheet to do.
@RetirementTales I’ve loved the nostalgic walk through teaching, some I remember as a pupil and many from being in education. Wishing you both well for the future and I shall enjoy the nostalgic posts a while longer 💜
@smithsmm Saw a yr8 options book for a school last week. 2 English, maths, science (combined or triple), hist or geog and then any three options best thing seen for a while…if they removed lit as core and made it 4 options even better. My GD has 14 subjects at KS3…just too much.
@RetirementTales I will miss this thread and it’s joyful humour so for the last time can I order a crusty cheese and pickle roll and half a pint of dry cider. For collective listening pleasure can I request the final countdown by Europe and my assembly banger has to be lord of the dance…enjoy💜
@staffdb66@MrBoothY6 There is no ‘law’ requiring the role to be advertised but many schools will have recruitment and selection policies that include ‘rules’ around how vacancies will be managed. If, advertised then the ‘law’ around any form of discrimination will apply.
@rowinggeek@MichelleDewbs@Lostlain1 To be fair sport (rowing, netball and cricket) have taught my granddaughters how to both win and lose with Grace, to be resilient, to understand that on the day your best won’t always get you the result you wanted.
@ICT_MrP I spent most of last year persuading my granddaughter not to do a PGCE, she did defer place in favour of a year aboard (working). Home for 10 weeks and then back to the school abroad for another year. She would be an amazing teacher and she may yet do a PGCE but for now it’s no
@Helen_Fields Not wanting to add to the gloom and doom of this but most of this years internships will have been allocated last year. I already know students doing conversion masters who have training contracts sorted for graduation next year. My advice would be paralegal as entry route.
@RetirementTales I will miss your fabulous posts and the opportunity they provided for reminiscing of days gone by. I shall keep my eyes pealed for the final Friday lunch time so I can put my sandwich and drink order in. Wishing you both well as you skip into the future 😘
@DougMcfarlane59 @emilybastow_ Same in my town, one cashpoint and we now have a banking hub operated by different banks on different days. Nearest ‘manned’ branch with counter staff is around 6 miles away.
@cierzo1 Ours has a reduced timetable which works for her, wish we could further reduce it…she knows she has to do English, Maths, Science and chooses to do Art, Music, computing but honestly anything else is of no interest…lessons too slow (her view) classes to noisy…in mainstream.
@DeputyGrocott I’ve enjoyed watching the swimming this week also netball, tennis season coming soon and commonwealth games to look forward to…so many fabulous sports to choose from.
