Teacher friends... what month for you is most challenging for whatever reason. Trying to get data for a report I’m working on for the District. Any RT would be helpful to expand the reach.
Failure isn't a grade. It's:
Risk-taking
Testing a theory
Great information
Reflection
Learning
Growing
Changing
Playing with ideas
Adjusting
Refining
Trying again
A great way for adults and children to learn and grow!

#edtech is not a cure-all, it's a tool and skillset teachers can harness to improve their students' education...IF the teacher knows how to use it https://t.co/0w0zOFK2F2
Many students & families "aren't struggling because no one taught them mindfulness; they are struggling because they're fighting generations of oppression in an unjust and unequal system." A short, refreshing piece on keeping this fad in perspective: https://t.co/8RJf8iDFzl
A4) allowing re-tests or repeats for grades pushes that sense of growth within a grade structure, allows mistakes, reduces pressure. Having a variety of assessment styles has similar effects #CodeBreaker
A3-Less pressure! My 3rd/4th grade STEAM classes are not graded and I find the Ss will take chances and not be afraid of “failing a challenge” if there isn’t a grade attached. #CodeBreaker
A3) school would look much more like a process of growing! Instead of working for an A Ss would work to become better learners and to improve themselves. #CodeBreaker
@melissadowEDU I agree! We use quizzes all the time as formative assessments with simple-to-evaluate data about what we need to teach/reinforce, rather than to show what students have learned
A2) I love using projects that get Ss to reflect on the key learnings. The more open-ended the better! And focusing on standards/progress on an individual level #CodeBreaker
A1) I think there is a time and a place for traditional assessments, but they are severely limited in what they can tell us about student progress and the kind of feedback they provide to Ss and Ts #CodeBreaker
Was designing a tech-based lesson this weekend, had a moment of “I’m great at this”. As a preservice teacher it’s great to feel like I know what I’m doing. What are you really good at?
