The Anti-Kratom Disinformation Cabal obviously thinks editorial by anti-kratom groups trumps science, and the decisions by the FDA, HHS, NIDA, DEA, and the DOJ. But their "opinions" drive their hysteria, and expose their "politics of personal attacks and destruction."

This is about a clear distinction between the rights of consumers to have access to properly regulated, accurately labeled, and age-restricted botanical kratom products and those who want to benefit addiction recovery corporations who cash in on a new profit center they want to create.

With botanical kratom banned -- that they advocate for -- consumers who effectively manage acute and chronic pain with botanical kratom are forced back to opioids. And those who advocate for that outcome know exactly what they are doing.

In your own article, you acknowledge the growing dangers of SYNTHETIC kratom products, yet your headline simply says “Kratom products.” WHY?

There is a HUGE difference between natural botanical kratom leaf and synthetic or highly concentrated 7-OH products! When journalists fail to make that distinction, the general public is left believing that all kratom products are the same.

Natural botanical kratom leaf helped save my life from opioid addiction. I lost years of my life to heroin and fentanyl, experienced homelessness, and lost my husband to a fentanyl overdose. Today, I have over four years in recovery. I’m raising my four children, working full-time, and attending college. This plant played an important role in helping me rebuild my life.

And I am NOT alone. Veterans, people living with chronic pain, and others in recovery have shared similar experiences. We deserve accurate reporting, not headlines that create fear around a plant that has helped so many of us.

I also have some very serious questions about these four deaths.

Were ALL FOUR deaths confirmed to involve synthetic products? What exactly did the toxicology reports show? Were other substances involved? Did medical examiners determine that kratom caused or contributed to these deaths, or was it simply detected in their systems?

These distinctions MATTER! Finding a substance in someone’s system does not automatically prove that it caused their death.

I absolutely support protecting consumers from dangerous synthetic and highly concentrated products. I support age restrictions, independent laboratory testing, accurate labeling, and responsible regulations.

But I do NOT support misleading headlines that lump natural botanical leaf together with synthetic and highly concentrated products.

Journalists have a responsibility to report accurately. Your words influence public opinion, and public opinion influences lawmakers. When important distinctions are ignored, people who responsibly use natural kratom leaf can end up suffering the consequences of restrictions based on fear rather than facts.

These deaths are tragic, and the families deserve answers. But so do the people whose lives have been positively affected by natural kratom leaf.

Whether intentional or not, this kind of reporting contributes to what feels like an ongoing smear campaign against the botanical plant.

Please reconsider your headline, investigate the exact substances involved, and report what the evidence actually shows.

Natural kratom leaf helped me get my life back. Please stop making people like me, veterans, and those living with chronic pain fight against misinformation surrounding a plant that has made such a difference in our lives.

We need responsible regulation, NOT fearmongering! Fellow advocates please tell Tom how much this plant has helped you and how you feel about his article.
