On 5th March 2026, the Commission, represented by the Disability and Elderly Division, participated as a panelist in a multi-stakeholder forum on ageing themed “Strengthening Coordination and Implementation on Older Persons’ Rights.”
The forum brought together key stakeholders to enhance understanding of the rights, realities, available data, and challenges affecting older persons in Kenya. It also aimed to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders and explore the establishment of a Multi-Stakeholder Technical Working Group (TWG) on Older Persons and Ageing.
During the panel discussion, the Commission highlighted its constitutional oversight mandate to promote equality and inclusion and shared insights into major milestones achieved and persistent gaps and challenges in advancing the rights and welfare of older persons in Kenya. The presentation emphasized the need for stronger coordination, improved data, and sustained policy implementation to ensure that older persons fully enjoy their rights and dignity.
