Everything was good and moderately okay. Then we got wedded, 7months into our marriage, my husband lost his job, Things moved from bad to worst, I was pregnant at the time, we couldn't feed, we were given EVICTION NOTICE every now and then. He started a taxi and on the other hand I started a hair styling business.. I was praying fervently while fasting and it was as if the more we pray, the tougher it becomes. at that point, I said to myself God has forsaken me and my family.most times all we pray for is to get atleast 1 MEAL a day. Our car broke down eventually, FCT development control came and demolished my shop, I mean in all of this we were already facing, I will watch my husband cry profusely at night begging God to come through, this always get to me but what can I do? This morning I have decided to Cry for help believing there is nothing God cannot do. We are based in the FCT and I am crying pleading, begging, to ANYONE at all to give us the best gift this CHRISTMAS by helping us with a Job. Missing person alert‼️‼️‼️

This is to help raise awareness about the kidnap of a specialist brain surgeon at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Anambra state,

His name is Dr. Mbanugo Tochukwu.
He was kidnapped few days ago in front of his house on the 30th of October 2025. Nobody has heard anything from him so far yet.

The report is that Dr. Mbanugo spent nearly the whole day in the theatre operating on patients which included removing a really complex brain tumour that took him hours to accomplish.

He finished surgery around 8 pm and headed home, but was unfortunately kidnapped in front of his house by unidentified armed men.

This is really a saddening situation.
As a brain surgeon in Nigeria, we barely have 250 of them, which means about 1 brain surgeon for 1 million Nigerians.

Please help raise awareness and inform all the relevant authorities. Let us help find and save the life of Dr Tochukwu.

Why do you think I never argue with random people online or the ‘real’ doctors that got their MBBS or worse, their ‘dermatology’ degree from a 6 months school??
Lol - It ‘didn’t worth’ it.

6 years of medical school.
1 year of internship
1 year of youth service
6 months of being a medical officer
3 and half years of internal medicine
3 years of Dermatology, venerology and some infectious disease along with rheumatology.
(This is me that finished in record time o, much longer for some)

Before I became a consultant physician and dermatologist in Nigeria in 2018 and then restarted internal medicine residency in America.

I will now be arguing with my ‘senior colleagues’ that did an accelerated course to become a ‘dermatologist’ in 6 months? Do I know who they are?? My seniors??

The people that see your silent tears when you lose a patient - like my 39 year old pregnant lady with Toxic epidermal necrolysis that I lost. I remember my husband gathering me up in a tight hug when he heard my racking sobs that seemed to consume me. He prayed along with me while I was taking care of her. I saw her young husband’s face as I prayed and came from home as a consultant even when I was off duty on Sunday. Yet, she still died.
The people that see the efforts you put in.
The family that write you notes to appreciate you after you contribute your money yet again
The patient you did a free procedure for
The family you donated blood for their child

How many do we want to talk about?

Nigerian doctors and all those health care workers in developing countries
Those abroad that continue to give back. I continue to teach about the skin, give free consultations, run an active website with my money, even while not in Nigeria.

Finally, paraphrasing a question someone asked me on Facebook, “Which do you think is better?”
As someone who had done both residency in Nigeria and abroad, here’s my response.

“I’ll tell you it has its advantages.
There’s one remarkable thing about the brain. The more it is used, the more it becomes even more receptive. Studies have even shown that the risk of Alzheimer’s is lower in those that ‘ use’their brain more. Lol

AI has made everyone not use their brain as often as before and clinical acumen is fast becoming a figment of imagination. Because of all these fancy tests, people have forgotten that they’re supposed to COMPLEMENT and not erase your clinical acumen.

I’ll say a mixture of the two is better. It makes you a well seasoned doctor

Finally, AI is what you feed in. Garbage in, garbage out if not fed by a smart person. Technology makes a smart person smarter and more effective, and a dumb one to become even more dumb. Because technology is what you make of it.”
