@JillPiggott@DirigoBlue In Washington state you can earn "up to" $1.75/hourly, but a single, 20-minute phone call costs $2.50 or so. It makes it tougher for #incarcerated people to to send money to their families, that's for sure :( disgusting system.
The idea that not all programming is available to all incarcerated individuals is odd to me - I get it, lifers don't have #recidivism issues - BUT at the same time, if they're involved in pro-social programming, they can help others who do face the challenge of release.
@Prisonscholars@hiddensentence These education/work/prosocial programs could also benefit lifers - they won't be released, but their involvement can help/teach others and help with their fight against #recidivism too.
The weekend is a busy, sometimes scary, time at the Airway Heights Correctional Facility - buzzing with friends and family, all visiting their loved ones. #FridayFeeling#TGIF#WeekendVisitation#Incarceration

I want to make a difference in the world, but it seems like you have to have an abundance of money to do anything worthwhile. Giving someone with fewer items a spot in front of you at the grocery store doesn't really matter in the grand scheme, does it? #ThursdayThoughts#Bummed
BREAKING: The Washington Supreme Court just struck down the death penalty, citing racial bias.
This makes Washington the 20th state in the nation to outlaw the death penalty. We won't stop fighting until it's struck down everywhere in America.
