"The Legend Has Retired." Staff at Monroe Correctional Complex celebrated the retirement of Gloria Hopkins. At 91, Gloria was not only the oldest DOC employee but also the oldest in Washington state government! She joined DOC at 63, dedicating nearly 30 years to corrections.
A Holiday First for Mission Creek Corrections Center: the facility hosted its first-ever Christmas tree lighting event featuring a 20-foot tree donated by a DOC staff member, decorated by students from the Trades Related Apprenticeship Coaching program.

It was a holiday craft day for several Coyote Ridge Corrections Center incarcerated individuals! A group from the Minimum Security Unit did crafts with staff while holiday music played and the TV was set to display a Christmas tree and fireplace to add to the ambiance!

The Sustainability Program at Airway Heights Corrections Center grew 600+ pumpkins weighing nearly 8,000 pounds! The pumpkins were donated to @shrinershosp in Spokane. DOC staff from Airway Heights delivered the pumpkins and helped set them up in front of the hospital entrance.

Pow wows in prison play a vital role in strengthening community bonds and ensuring the transmission of traditions. Women incarcerated at Mission Creek Corrections Center recently participated in a pow wow with their families and loved ones to help heal, educate, and rehabilitate.
