As I sat in my backyard, I looked up at the sky and took this photograph.

What I saw immediately caught my attention: a sword and a cross.

I have attached the original photograph so you can see exactly what I saw. I also had AI highlight those formations so they could be seen more clearly.

However, this isn’t a post about clouds.

It is about where the LORD was leading me through what He was showing me.

As I looked upward, He began leading me directly into His Word and to the historical reality of what Jesus Christ accomplished at Calvary.

And suddenly the message became much larger.

LOOK UP.

Our battles are so much greater than what many people can understand simply by looking at what is happening directly in front of them.

Scripture tells us exactly that:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 6:12 NIV

The person standing in front of you is not the whole battle.

The circumstance overwhelming you is not the whole battle.

What your physical eyes can see is not the whole battle.

This is why we MUST trust the Lord rather than lean upon our own understanding.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Proverbs 3:5 NIV

Then there was the SWORD.

And He led me directly to His Word:

“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
Ephesians 6:17 NIV

Jesus Himself said:

“The seed is the word of God.”
Luke 8:11 NIV

And we are commanded to put that Word deep within us:

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Psalm 119:11 NIV

Then there was the CROSS.

My thoughts were taken directly to Calvary—to the historical sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who willingly gave His life for us.

The battle cannot be understood apart from the Cross.

The victory cannot be understood apart from the Cross.

Our salvation cannot be understood apart from JESUS CHRIST.

And then—the LIGHT.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 NIV

Do you see the message?

THE BATTLE.
THE SWORD.
THE CROSS.
THE LIGHT.

And through all of it:

TRUST HIM.

There is tremendous heaviness in people’s lives right now. People contact me constantly asking what they should do.

And repeatedly, I return them to GOD and HIS WORD.

I cannot bend His Word.

I cannot change His Word to accommodate someone’s feelings or circumstances.

I must point people back to what HE HAS SAID.

And we must test everything:

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.”
1 John 4:1 NIV

That includes what we hear, what we’re taught, what we’re told spiritually, and what we believe we understand.

TEST IT AGAINST HIS WORD.

I tell you these things because I want you to rise and take your place in the purpose for which GOD created you—to serve the living God.

We were created in His image.
Genesis 1:27

And while Scripture reveals that our battle reaches into spiritual realms, Jesus commands us concerning one another:

“As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
John 13:34 NIV

People are not our enemy.

So when the battle becomes too complicated to understand…

When what is happening around you makes absolutely no sense…

When you cannot see what is happening beyond what your physical eyes perceive…

TRUST HIM.

Take up the Sword of the Spirit.

Remember the Cross of Calvary.

Walk in the Light of Jesus Christ.

And never forget:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalm 19:1 NIV

Everything points back to HIM.

All glory belongs to GOD.
