@DruhFarrell @joshyyc@markusoff@Denny_Morrison@GregGinYYC What other items are on the table but unfunded? I might prefer completing the green line over the Olympics, but would rather have the Olympics and associated Vicpark improvements than fund more unsustainable suburban communities...
If you're interested and/or confused about #yyc's cost to host #Calgary2026, I suggest the thread below. Sad to say this thread is the most concise summary that i've seen regarding the costs and cost manipulations. #yyccc
@Denny_Morrison@GregGinYYC There are benefits! Not disputing that. Nearly all jobs are temporary; and we don't know now what Calgary economy will be like in mid-20s.
I was asked my favourite books by the @calgarylibrary, but I didn’t realize they were going to create this fantastic display and order stacks of them. @modacitylife and @JSadikKhan, your titles are just peeking through on the right of this pic.
The deadline to register & submit to the MOVEMENT Call for Ideas has been extended to November 18. Find out all the details on our website! #dtalksmove

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Calgary's proposed new 2019-2022 budget would cut reinvestment to the #yycbeltline and existing neighbourhoods all across #yyc.
Help us spread the word. Pop-up budget info session today at 8 St Safeway 3-7pm. #yyccc

@pbakhmut We should have either free public transit or toll all roads. I prefer the later, as paying for the cost of a service influences demand. In this case, taxes on fuel costs dont come close to making up the $ required to pay for/maintain roads and the cost of congestion
AVs aren’t sexy. You know what is sexy? Streets designed to work for everyone. In checking out the future of mobility, we can’t turn our backs on the fundamentals of great cities. #NACTO18
The vast majority of Canada's growth since 2006 has been in car-dependent suburbs. This is far more troubling news for the climate than anything you've heard about pipelines
@AltenhofenYYC@joshyyc@sprawlcalgary @DruhFarrell @newsknine Ok, so what mechanisms are in place to maintain the 2/3 - 1/3 ratio of development after the growth managment overlays have been removed?
@joshyyc@sprawlcalgary @DruhFarrell @newsknine That's why we should focus on creating compete communities out of our existing suburbs by adding more housing / transit / jobs / services / etc. They have the natural benefits of being already serviced and close to everything else.
@joshyyc@sprawlcalgary @DruhFarrell @newsknine Generally agree. However in addition to transit and devlopment quality, site location will still shape travel behaviours and thus the societal cost of the dev. Wouldn't you agree that the same dev. w/ same services located 10km out would have lower travel impacts than if 30km out?
