Ciao,
The role of women in our struggle is profound and indispensable. The “Bella Ciao,” a song now synonymous with resistance around the world, was first sung by women who stood against brutal working conditions in the 19th century. In Kenya, the march against femicide remains one of the most peaceful protests in our history. It rekindled our hope for peace and reminded us that the power to mobilize does not belong to politicians alone. Women’s involvement in these movements has transformed the very nature of protests, which were once seen as the domain of men.
These women have boldly challenged the status quo. It was Anita who urged Agwambo to stay home. It was Sylvia who prepared nourishing meals for our front-liners and those hospitalized. Shakira, unyielding, faced down the police and declared that enough was enough. Wanjira enlightened us about the struggles in informal settlements. Tarus took a stand against the politicians who embezzled funds intended for education.
Hanifa crowdfunded for hospital bills, upkeep and aftercare for the injured and a decent send off for our political martyrs. She showed us good stewardship and how much we can achieve with a fraction of what our politicians steal.
Our sisters shed tears for us when we returned home and marched alongside us whenever they could. Our lovers welcomed us back with the warmth of their kisses.
Yet, despite their sacrifices, they still bear the brunt of our cruelty, enduring slurs and shame simply for existing. To every woman in this struggle, your dedication does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your unwavering commitment.
You are the heartbeat of our fight.
Bella Ciao!
This is a question and something I’m getting a lot and would obvious ask you guys. Should we facilitate a billboard with names and faces of our fallen comrades? If majority agrees I actually do it 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Most of those people pretending to be angry are part of the machinery to stem public anger and divert the focus.
"Let us insult you. Don't respond. We shall attack you and call you traitor and bastard."
Wake up!
I tweeted about politics of self importance and personalities a week or so ago when people started centering the movement around themselves for personal mileage & popularity here on X.
Many joined because of cancel culture, they are not like us as well, stop with the despair, a cleaner in the office should be of same importance as the CEO for there to be trust which is what we are questioning now.
Be wary of anyone trying to be the main character both when things are going good or bad. It’s not time to settle scores, but rather be United so that the future generation doesn’t say they died in vain.
For us It’s too early to call it, we either find the truth we’ve been seeking or it will find us but for that to happen, we’ll need to put up one hell of a fight first.
THE FACT REMAINS THAT THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THE TRUTH, THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR A BETTEE LIFE, THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR JUSTICE RARELY LOSE
Imagine losing your dignity, credibility or brand for money.
Pesa ya awa watu wa serikali ni chafu and it will mess you up even further esp because people have died for this cause that is greater than everything else.
