@realBestWank@hankgreen ideally we would not need to use AC, but we're in a far from ideal situation as it is. AC saves lives.
The main problem is that it's barely adopted because it didn't use to be necessary, and the high installation prices. It will take a while until it's as common as in the US.
@flackospalace i don't think it's bad if it has decent conditions (put in your hours and go home, like any other job), my mother put food on our table doing that.
That being said, "importing" a maid from the other side of the world, likely because that way you can pay them less, is soulless.
i wish we would stop saying Climate Change and start saying Climate Catastrophe because what’s coming is nothing short of catastrophic. we’re sealing our fate every day
@hankgreen@whodsuw i believe the reasonings are generally pretty valid as to *why* it's not as common as in the US, not as much as to how it should be or putting a moral judgement on it.
Things like higher energy prices, people living in older houses, A/C not really being necessary before.
@cszabla to live there for a while, but I don't think the lifestyle is appropriate for most of us.
It's very different and everything you do feels very artificial
@cszabla Plus I really noticed how much less I walked. I remember having to "jaywalk" all the fucking time cause interstates cut the town from the suburb, and even to get from one store to another in a comercial zone I had to cross with no pedestrian crossings. It was a cool experience +
