They cut down the acacia trees this week at Kenyatta National Hospital. The marabou storks that had nested there for decades didn’t have anywhere to go😭😭😭. Some died. Some got injured. All because nobody thought to check what was living in those branches first.
This is what happens when “development” skips the wildlife-sensitivity conversation entirely. Nairobi keeps growing, but does it have to keep growing over everything else that was already here?
Environmental assessments before tree removal shouldn’t be optional. They should be law am speaking for them, can someone hear me please 😭😭😭
The relief for body and mind when you stay in such places and perceive with all your senses is priceless. Forests, the cornerstone of human life, need our protection and special attention.💚☘️🌿🌱🌲🌳🍀💚
Today, Youth on Wings was privileged to join Impact Kenya and Sang’ida Foundation for the Mazingira Day tree-planting event under the theme “Turudi Primo.” 🌱 Together, we donated and planted fruit trees — a small step toward a greener, healthier future. 🍋🌳 #MazingiraDay
There is no mental wellness without environmental wellness.
Let’s protect the places that restore us.
Let’s care for the earth that calms our minds.
And let’s remind each other that wellness grows where nature and humanity meet. 🌱
