As I hinted at, the Flames have signed a five-year deal with news/talk radio station QR77 to broadcast all Flames games on the AM dial.
It will include a few hours of sports talk every afternoon, to be hosted by a very familiar and popular name.
Doesn’t replace what was lost with an all-sport radio format, but will give fans plenty to chew on when it comes to the Flames.

It was such a privilege to be part of FAN 960 for parts of three decades, dating back to my time analyzing Flames games alongside Jock Wilson, Friday hits with Rob Kerr, and my lengthy run alongside the uber-talented @Fan960Steinberg on the EF Hour.
Such a wonderful venue to dig deep into the Flames and the Calgary sportscape, while having some laughs along the way.
So many passionate, dedicated people on staff who did well to give fans and journalists a platform to hash out the sporting issues of the day.
The station also gave a voice to @KidSportCalgary and so many other great causes and community-leading people/sponsors in our city.
As Ken King used to say, “all this was ever meant to be is fun.”
Today’s news is no fun. 💔

BREAKING: Rogers is closing Sportsnet 650 in Vancouver *AND* Sportsnet 960 in Calgary, among six total radio station closures.

Rogers will still broadcast Canucks games for radio on one of its other properties, but will stop producing Flames games on radio.
