There is not one state in our country where you can make ends meet on the current federal minimum wage. Not one! How quickly would Congress raise the minimum wage if they were forced to live on $7.25 an hour? Outrageous.
There is nowhere — I repeat, NOWHERE — in the United States where a full-time worker being paid the federal minimum wage of $7.25 can make ends meet. That is a disgrace. It is far past time that we raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour and give millions of workers a raise.
If any Senator believes this is the last time they will cast a vote on whether or not to give a raise to 32 million Americans, they are sorely mistaken. We’re going to keep bringing it up, and we’re going to get it done because it is what the American people demand and need.
I just voted to move forward with raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. Two-thirds of Americans want to give workers this long-overdue raise to help lift families out of poverty and strengthen our economy. It is time that the Senate reflects the will of the people.
President Biden is calling on the Senate to pass the American Rescue Plan and finish the job of delivering $2,000 in direct relief to those who need it.
Understand this: Qualified immunity lets officers escape accountability when they violate constitutional rights, denies justice to victims of violence and discrimination, and upholds systemic racism.
It needs to go.

518,000 Americans are dead from this pandemic, struggling families desperately need help – and every single Senate Republican just tried to stop the COVID-19 relief bill. They should be ashamed.
