One of Africa's biggest problems isn't just foreign interference. It's the leaders who put foreign interests ahead of their own people.

In this powerful excerpt from a speaking appearance in Rwanda, Kenyan author and academic P.L.O. Lumumba reflects on the idea of the 'comprador bourgeoisie' - the African political elite who, from the colonial era to today, have enabled outsiders to profit at Africa's expense while weakening the continent from within.

His message is that Africa cannot keep negotiating as a collection of fragmented states that are siloed away from each other. Real strength, he says, lies in regional cooperation and ultimately, a stronger African Union that can defend the continent's collective interests.

Ibrahim Traoré: French Military Advisers Kept Burkinabè Army Dependent Before The Revolution

In this clip taken from the traditional flag raising ceremony at the Koulouba presidential palace in Bamako, Mali in January 2025, Burkina Faso president Captain Ibrahim Traoré reveals that French military "advisors" were central to the deliberately-maintained state of chaos that the Sahel used to suffer.

According to Traoré, when Burkina Faso's military began to record gains in its anti-terrorism campaign following the exclusion of these "advisors", political buttons were pushed to ensure their return, after which the security situation would relapse. This cycle did not end until the 2022 revolution that brought Traoré to power, after which all French military "advisors" were permanently booted out and the security situation finally took a decisive turn for the better.

Jeffrey Sachs: MI6, DGSE, and CIA Can’t Stop Pan-Africanism This Time - That Era Is Over!

According to American economist and author Jeffrey Sachs, the first wave of Pan-Africanism which birthed African independence and liberation movements in the 2nd half of the 20th century, was stopped from outside through the combined efforts of the US, British and French intelligence services working together to ass*ssinate African leaders and disrupt the process of independent African state formation.

This interruption, Sachs says, is no longer sustainable because these intelligence agencies no longer have the power and the narrative upper hand, and Africa increasingly now has the ability to defend itself. Sachs advises Africa to focus on building out a continent-wide legal and infrastructural framework to boost cooperation and trade in such a manner that would create an economic miracle similar to that of China.

Burkina Faso Fines French Media Outlet Canal+ Over Breach Of Contract

Burkina Faso continues to assert control over its media and information space. On June 17, 2026, the country’s Higher Council for Communication (CSC) slapped an $86,516 fine on French-owned multimedia group Canal+, for breaching its contractual obligations.

Canal+ is the latest French media outlet to be reminded by the administration of Burkinabé President Ibrahim Traoré that it is the people of Burkina Faso, not France, who control the country’s destiny now.

BREAKING: Burkina Faso Severs Diplomatic Ties With France

Burkina Faso has officially severed all diplomatic ties with its former coloniser France.

The Burkinabé government announced this in a statement released on June 26, 2026, citing France’s repeated attempts to destabilize the country.

Since cutting military and political ties with France in 2022, under the revolutionary leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has seen rapid social, political and economic progress.

This latest move by the Burkinabé government stands as the latest reminder to the world that the days of the West interfering in Burkina Faso’s affairs are over.

African Corrupt Leaders and The Hands Behind Them

Over the past couple of weeks, 2 former high level government officials from Nigeria and Ghana living in the UK and US respectively, who are both subjects of high profile corruption probes in their home countries, received legal guarantees of state protection against extradition to face trial at home. Once again, we are confronted with an issue that many in the Global North love to pretend does not exist.

Africa's "fantastically corrupt" governments are always cited as the reason behind the continent's state of underdevelopment. What is deliberately omitted by the Western loudmouths who recycle this talking point and infinitum is the foundational role that their own governments play in the acquisition, transfer and warehousing of stolen African state resources, as well as the shielding and protection offered to corrupt African government officials by the same Western governments that have a lot to say about "fighting corruption in Africa."

Félix Houphouët-Boigny: The Man Who Betrayed Africa

On March 6, 1957, Ghana’s first President and Pan-Africanist icon, Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, stood at the helm of a newly-independent Ghana, and shared his vision of a truly sovereign, truly united and truly powerful Africa.

That vision was cut short on February 24, 1966, when Nkrumah was overthrown in a CIA-backed coup.

9 years before this coup, and a month after his nation’s independence, Nkrumah went to Abidjan, the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, for a high-level meeting with the country’s first President and full-throated stooge of the West, Félix Houphouët-Boigny.

Africa would perhaps look very different today, if Nkrumah had really understood the intentions of the person he was meeting.

Colonial Infrastructure in Africa Was Built for Extraction, Not ‘Civilisation’

Anti-imperialist podcaster Triploi, says that the c*lonialist argument that they ‘civilised’ Africa by "building roads and infrastructure" whitewashes hundreds of years of a campaign to steal African wealth on an industrial scale using infrastructure that they built specifically to aid the wholesale plunder of an entire continent.

A 2021 paper published in the New Political Economy journal calculated that the Global North still extracts $2.2 trillion annually from the Global South. Colonialism it seems, has not ended at all.
