@ver_nanaaa ESL speakers don't have time to google the origins of every word. If we don't know we just find the definition and that's it. Do you think Brazilian people care when someone uses their slang when trying to converse in European portuguese?
@ver_nanaaa Not sure what point you are trying to make, because if its ESL speakers should not speak AAVE ever, then its frankly a stupid point that no amount of good-faith debate can ever drive across.
@ver_nanaaa That's selection bias though. I frequent football/soccer spaces where the overwhelming majority of native English speakers are British, and ESL users there do indeed use 'abeg', 'mandem', 'leng', 'gutted' etc a lot.
@ver_nanaaa Why are you assuming people have a curated list of Black media they consume to imitate? If you're exposed to American English, you're exposed to AAVE speakers too. You absorb from whoever you hear. ESL speakers do the same with non-AAVE slang: “mate,” “bloody,” “cheers,” “innit"
@ver_nanaaa “you picked this up from Black speakers” and “you’re wrong for using it” are two different claims. ESL speakers absorb speech from the people and media around them. If you think a specific expression shouldn’t be used, argue that instead of assuming the borrowing itself is wrong
@ver_nanaaa@Karoo64_@QSofatoshi Cite examples of what you consider white people vernacular or white people slang and I can assure you, ESL speakers frequently use such terms.
Back when I was young people said "mate" and "bloody" a lot because of harry potter. There's no nefarious meaning behind anything.
@cneuralnetwork also IITR is an exception, most IITs have terrible CTF teams compared to so called "lower institutions" like Amrita, Manipal, SASTRA, VITP etc
@cneuralnetwork IITR are a good team but CSAW is a dogshit way to judge. Its been an average CTF at best for a long time and most serious teams do not take a whiff at it.
@cfcedithh Colonial and perpetually slaved mindset. Politcians exist to serve us. They should be called by their names. Not sir ma'am. Don't be retarded.
@Tim_NS1@dimlaz2200@Gazpachen His mother, Eva Silva, was a japanese woman who christianised her name to fit in. Its well estsblished history and its shocking you dont know that lmao. How old are you? Cant be more than 14
@Tim_NS1@dimlaz2200@Gazpachen Japanese Mom, Spanish Dad. Same way Rudiger has a German Dad and African Mom. I dont know if this is a sorry attempt at ragebaiting or you are intentionally being a retard or whether you are actually this retarded. Leaning towards the latest.
@Tim_NS1@dimlaz2200@Gazpachen So the half german half africans in the current NT are not german but the half japanese half spanish is spanish? Also the Spain team had a black technically excellent midfielder in Marcos Senna
