One more health update. Since I’m going through multiple things at once (family issues, divorce, unemployment, slowly relocating to ATX from Killeen, etc), I decided to prioritize mental health. I spent 11 days at a facility focused on this type of issue, I’m following this with a 12 week program with group and individual therapy. In a nutshell, drugs are more fun when they’re prescribed.

For those of you keeping score, I “beat” #ThyroidCancer in 16 and was diagnosed with T2 #Diabetes in 24. Living life post-thyroidectomy was challenging enough with daily medication, diabetes initially required #insulin shots nightly to manage glucose levels. (1/?)

I never planned to be healthy, but the different health conditions I am working through pretty much demand I am a responsible adult, buy and prepare fresh foods most days and limit my bad habits.

Now, I have been tasked with radically increasing my #Protein intake tremendously to ensure working out is focused on weight loss and muscle repair. I’m doing shakes with meals, eating lean meats and eating healthy snacks throughout the day. (3/?)

I’m happy to say that after my #endocrinologist visit today, I no longer have to take #insulin and will now manage with #metformin diet and exercise. The journey has only started, I have lost 25 lbs since Oct and have been working out at the local #YMCA daily (2/?)
