Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote says Africa must stop exporting its mineral resources in raw form and instead process them locally to expand the continent’s industrial capacity.
Speaking to the BBC, Dangote said his goal is to “disrupt” the existing model of extracting minerals in Africa and processing them elsewhere. He also stressed that reliable electricity is critical to mineral processing and broader industrialisation.
His group plans to develop 10,000MW of power generation capacity across Africa by 2030.
